The base mechanic of all of them is aim, shoot and reload along with movement options. If your fundamentals are down surely you should be able to pick up and play at a high level without using the game specific mechanics.

You... do? You already start out at a much higher level of skill than someone new to the genre.

Mechanically speaking, yes. But that's only a small portion of what makes the pros as good as they are.

The majority of what distinguishes a pro from a simply above-average player is game/map knowledge. Knowing how fast it's possible for an enemy to get from one place to another, likely routes they'll take around the map, important choke points to control, optimal weapon setups and their optimal counters, etc.
