all those extra features, like accumulating "BAT" and receiving adverts in the form of notifications is kind of off-putting. Reminds me of what happens when you're using the free version of a product that can be bought...

I use Brave for my phone browser. Easily the best browser I've ever tried.

I don't know if the creator was a racist or homophobic and I don't care. The product is quality.

A "private" browser that pushes adverts on you like that almost certainly isn't as private as it's claiming to be. Especially if it's free.

Can someone clarify what the guy did to show that he was a racist? Also, has he done something homophobic beyond the whole "Marriage is between a man and woman" bit? Not trying to defend him, I seriously am out of the loop on this.

You can easily not use that stuff. As in completely disable it. In the settings.

You can turn off the Brave Ads notifications. So, you get the built-in ad blocker without having to deal with the notifications.

It doesn't pull the ads from the internet remotely afaik. It's just a weird system.

Also I know you can disable it, guess I could do that. Or just back to Vivaldi. I love Firefox but it got really slow for me these past few months.

I installed it yesterday afternoon. My pending rewards are 0.8 BAT which is equivalent to 14 cents. But I have to wait for May 5th for that and presumably whatever else I earn if I keep using it for that "money" to go to my wallet.

Looks like there is now a way to trade it for other cryptocurrencies through certain services (idk) or redeem it in the form of gift cards.
