my impression of "essential worker" will always remind me of the scene in schindler's list where they give out working passes to metal workers and the like while ditching the teacher and musician etc.

TC, you can't make an effective argument for improving the conditions of these workers while maintaining some ridiculous fantasy that you can just snap your fingers and have the national guard take all their places, replace all their logistic chains, and magically have all the PPE you'd want the essential workers to have (national guard doesn't have any of that either). It's a shitty situation but it's not a paradox, an oxymoron, or a euphemism and neither is it a quick or an easy fix.

Correct. I could. If I were President and had the briefing in January, like the current guy, I could have done all those things.
