Like seriously I saw this post in another board and just had to face palm. How thick are these idiots? Over here in Australia we have similar lockdowns but we deal with it because it's clear it's making a big difference, especially in our country. Is it hard yes, necessary? Also yes. These idiots really need to pull up their big boy panties and work with everyone else in slowing the spread down, instead of escalating it further.

If the thing spread freely basically everyone over there would likely get it and you'd end up with 10 million+ deaths, especially considering over worked hospitals and knock on effects from it. If that's not a flooding of corpses I don't know what is.

Here's an important fact to understand. Intelligence is limited, at least in the short term. It takes a lot of time, energy and resources to achieve things. Stupidity on the other hand is practically unlimited in the short term. You don't have to work to be stupid, you just have to let yourself go.

i support them. the constiuition isn't a light switch to be flipped on and off. we had some reasonable claim to suspend travel and activities at the eve of this virus but not so much anymore. may 1st is the date. businesses also shouldn't be forced closed. this isn't ussr or the ccp. gov doesn't nationalize or own ur right to do business.

So at what point does it become acceptable to protest the loss of freedoms and liberties and essentially being under forced house arrest? I agree that it's silly to do after just one month, but at what point do we start to weigh other options? The livelihoods of an entire class of people are on the line here.

From where I stand, countries that had strict quarantines in place still got fucked, while ones that didn't fared nearly the same or even better which should go against all logic. But sure, let's strip away all human rights and destroy the world's economy and supply lines anyway.

Ok so you let it spread like the flu. Flu affects 5-20% of Americans each year even with vaccines and in built immunity. Covid spreads way worse and has no in built immunity or vaccine. For example if the flu had 10 rounds of spread that's around 56 people infected. Covid would give you 2000+ infected after 10 rounds. It would easily hit the vast majority of the American population. So then we have say 250-300 million infected. 20% require hospitalisation so 50-60 million hospital beds used up, not even factoring in anyone else who needs hospital beds. 5% lets say net ICU and ventilators (15 million btw). Take a guess what happens next. The entire medical system collapses. Deaths escalate even further.

I was talking more along the lines of Sweden, which is merely practicing basic measures like social distancing and hand washing. They are not really seeing worse outcomes or projections than anyone else, not enough to warrant full Draconian measures and the dismantling of the supply chain and economy.

Also, that's confirmation bias lol. It's easy to say "We know the quarantines are working because look, our numbers aren't that bad."

But there's no control group, no alternative, nothing to compare it to. So you can say whatever you want, just like someone that had little to no measures taken could say "See? We don't have 100 million dead on our hands. It's not as serious as they say."

It also doesn't answer my question. Are you okay staying at home for 18 months? Until 2022? Do you expect the virus is just going to vanish one day on its own while you're hiding away in your home? The second people are allowed out into the world, it's going to ramp up again. But now there's no economy and people are starving because food supply chains have been gutted. Was it still worth it?

What countries? I mean you can literally look at the difference it makes with California and New York. One state started strict quarantines nearly instantly and is now able to send supplies and help outside of the state. The other, didn't and said all was fine? Now it is a hellhole.

Not harder than countries that were practicing strict quarantines like Italy (and several others). Maybe they ramp up a lot in the coming weeks, only time will tell.

That's the point I'm trying to make though. If full quarantine is destroying the supply chain and economy for relatively minimal benefit, is it still worth it? Should you relinquish all your rights for years and never utter a peep of disapproval? That's how you go down the path of tyranny and end up with a government like the CCP.

What matters is average people like you and me no longer being able to afford our homes, pay rent, buy food (or even access food because everything shut down and it all went to waste). Small business owners taking the "L" and shutting down for good. All entertainment disappearing, and losing the right to even basic things like spending time in the same room as someone you care about.

Like, what do you guys think? We hide in our homes until a magical safe, infallible vaccine appears and then poof, everything goes back to normal? All our debts are magically forgiven, all bills are paid in full, nobody goes hungry or suffers?
