I almost bought a PS4 just to play the remake, but I stopped myself. I will just wait until it hits steam eventually. FF7 is still one of my favorite games.

I had little interest in this game but seeing a friend play some it looks like a really fun game and seems like the pulled off what they wanted to pull off in the first chapter.

I'm still likely not going to buy it until all the parts are out ages from now, but this seems like its every bit worth the money just about.

I'm also curious did people really think this would be like 3 hours in the exact same midgar as the original game?

There's just been a series of mini-games after another and all somehow tied to the story. I just defended a mountain, did some CPR, and sorta learned how to march. This is so fun. I hope the other parts of the remake can come out soon.

I already know the two big spoilers (one of them for sure), but I still feel a little sad seeing these things play out. I just got to Gongaga.


Also, I have so much Materia, but not enough slots to equip them. I'm not really sure what is good. I have like 4 summons, but I've only ever summoned once. It uses A LOT of mana apparently? So I don't like using them.

There are a lot of different ways to play the game. Some people love to use summons, some dont. In my last 2 play throughs I didnt use a single summon though. They use up a lot of MP, the animations take too long, and youll notice that they drain some of your HP / MP when you equip them

yeah she is tricky to recruit, you have to go through a couple steps. Just make sure to never go to the menu at all because shell steal from you and run away

I just encountered the weirdest enemy. It was swinging on a chain from the ceiling, and I knocked it down. It spent the whole battle trying to get back up. It was truly pitiful.

I've heard the remake is 40ish hours. The first game is WAY WAY WAY longer than that unless you just straight bumrush the main story.

the original is like 35 to 40 hours its really not as long as people think

my ff7 save right before jenova is at 38 hours and ive gotten everything. the only thing i didnt do is breed chocobos, i just used the one from beating ruby

meanwhile in the remake, im sitting at almost 70 hours and i just got aerith back

When we went to the Temple of the Ancients and she began talking a lot, I had the feeling it was coming. But everything seemed normal there, and I was picking up lots of new gear, even an awesome Princess Guard for her. It had a whole bunch of paired slots and I was excited to put on All Barrier, All Restore, and All Haste on it. But I kept forgetting to. Went through two bosses and didn't do it. I didn't know it would be my last battle with her.

And even though I knew the spoiler, no one ever mentions the part where you "lose" control and are forced to attack her. It's messed up they just threw you into a battle afterwards too. I don't know what to do about my third party member. I can't just give them Aerith's materia, partly because no one really has that many slots yet and it just wouldn't be right.

The most heartbreaking part was the sad music. That alone makes me cry every time!

I also miss her healing limit breaks the most, those were always crucial.

I put it on Cloud, along with two Covers (not sure if it stacks like that) and Counterattack! He's been learning a lot (or at least I hope so)!

I'm not sure how long I've played for, but I feel we've moved on way too fast! The story is getting much more interesting now (I was really skeptical about the whole "just follow Sephiroth" story before). I'm way past the part where Sephiroth shows the party the "illusion." I feel so bad for Tifa. She is the sweetest thing ever.


I'm playing as Cid now, which is kinda weird because my main party is pretty much out of commission. Didn't know I needed to gear everyone. Whoops.

Original FF7 is do-able in twenty-five hours without missing any story content, in my experience. The remake took me thirty-three hours, and I only missed one side quest. Worth the money, IMO.

I just made it to the other big spoiler. Wow, watching all of it unfold was amazing! I can really see why the game is so popular. Cloud and Tifa are the cutest things ever.

I'm really enjoying this game, but the random encounters are killing it for me. I'm at a really exciting part of the game, but there's ALL THESE TRASH MOBS WASTING MY TIME. I've resorted to summon spamming and going on my phone while it all plays out.

Anywho, just thrashed the Turks. NOW ONWARD.

I got the high affection under the Highwind scene. I wasn't sure which I got, but I went to check on YouTube. It was so cute. Tifa is the best.

theres a ton of side missions, final weapons and final limit breaks to get at the end of the game, and plenty of Golden Saucer stuff.

Some crazy optional side bosses etc at the end of the game. Youll have to try those on your next play through.

I know, man! I'm reading/watching so much FF7 stuff now. My gear was **** in the final battle. Tifa had a total of 8 Materia in the final battle (4 from her weapon and 4 from her armor). A lot of my materia were having babies towards the end, but I didn't have the slots for them, haha.

Also, I am mad at myself for messing up the very first dialogue choice with Aerith! I chose to warn her about the danger because I thought that was the "good" choice. I didn't know I'd get a whole scene if I picked the other choice!

I'm looking at FF7 merchandise right now. I want to get something. I saw some figures/statuettes of Cloud and Aerith on Amazon, but I want a Tifa one too (figures hers would be sold out). I'm also looking at artbooks, but I want an official one. I also want a manual! Remember game manuals?! I'm watching a bunch of videos about FF7. Looking into Advent Children, but from the bits I've seen of it, I don't know if I will like it (I don't agree on what Cloud is doing after the events of FF7).

And now that I REALLY think about it, I don't like Cloud's portrayal in all the games I've seen him (namely Kingdom Hearts).
