A month long play of BotW and now I am the most powerful of all.

In the beginning, that measly red Lynel, the one in Zora's Domain, he used to terrify me. Took me out so many times, and I basically used up all my items and potions I had at the time to finally defeat him.

But now? Now the silver Lynel cowers before me, they see me and run in fear! I can take them out in one fell swoop!

Hehe anyway yeah this game has been amazing. Got all divine beasts. I actually did gerudo and goron back to back, for the longest time I was sitting at 2 divine beasts and just exploring the map, screwing around, forgetting my initial destination and just going here, there, everywhere.

If you have even just a decent weapon, the Red Lynel is really nothing. Just dodge and flurry and he goes down pretty quick.

Congrats on the Silver Lynel though!

I'm also down to just 2 memories left! It's pretty awesome when I accidentally stumble upon a memory. It doesn't really happen often, but it did for hyrule castle, I just happened to find the one near what turned out to be Zelda's room.

I think I'm close to getting the one that looks like it's on a cliff in goron land, but for the life of me I have no idea where to start looking for the one of the statue of a horse, which I initially thought was Epona and which I would get to naturally throughout the course of the game. Turns out not so much, my traditional partners like Epona and a green tunic have been done away with in this game.

Dude, back in Zora's domain I was happy with my Soldier's Broadsword, which is like what, 15 damage? Of course a better weapon would help me, now I'm literally swinging around guardian axes with 60+ attack and savage lynel crushers with nearly 80 attack power!

Feels good. I've been thinking of keeping one of every kind of weapon, especially the elemental ones, but quite frankly I did away with ice because freezing isn't that beneficial at my level anymore, and if my electric blade breaks I'm not gonna replace it. I'm only keep fire sword around for utility really.

Quick question about the Hyrule compendium, does anyone know what entry 323 is? It's supposed to be knight's bow originally but I bought the dlc which I think may or may not have screwed up the numbering order so now I'm not sure what it is. It's sandwiched between all the bow weapon entries.

I also bought the rest of the pictures for the compendium. I'm glad I waited to buy because although the game's picture taking is much better than my shoddy work, some of the entries feel like a spoiler that I'm only now better equipped for to see. But yeah just curious about that entry

EDIT: never mind apparently it's a spoilery weapon that I'm not supposed to get yet, we'll see if I will later

I think the canon order of the divine beasts might have been zora land, goron land, ruto land, and finally gerudo land. But I did it zora, ruto, gerudo and goron last, because I didn't know what to do about catching on fire until I sucked it up and bought fire elixirs.

Plus I was told goron's power sucks and... yeah, it's not the best. Kind of useful, and probably would have benefited me if I got it earlier as I was "supposed to" but what I really think I should have probably got sooner is urbosa's fury, which not just injures and electrocutes enemies, but actually staggers lynels; a huge beneficial power.

I really wanted revali's gale because it looked super useful and helpful for exploring which is why I made a beeline for ruto land after getting mipha's grace.

The most satisfying thing was learning you could parry the guardian lasers. Normally I ran away from most of them unless i needed parts. But then every single one had to be destroyed

While that has definitely helped me the entire game, what I recently discovered which is even better is that you can actually... attack guardian stalkers. At the beginning of the game I made no damage, and unlike previous zelda games where a bomb would kill those kinda enemies in one hit, bombs did seemingly nothing to them.

But, a high level weapon like my guardian axe, which I swing wildly after having time stopped them, actually kills them without my needing to parry. And since I have so many weapons, I actually look forward to breaking them on these guardians.

I'll admit I cheated in finding hestu as I really wanted to expand my inventory, because in the beginning the weapon distribution is terrible. There are a ton of weapons in concentrated places, so you get a lot of weapons in enemy camps that you can't take with you, but then somewhere deep in the forest or on a mountain you're down to 2 weapons and there's no other weapon or even tree in sight, and you have to resort to like, bombs which isn't always convenient.

If they make a sequel that's something to keep in mind I think.

Sometimes I would literally use magnesis just to carry an extra weapon around to break on enemies. Otherwise the breaking weapon mechanic would actively discourage the cathartic nature of fighting enemies and raiding camps and exploring further than the immediate area around you.

The only problem in finding hestu is that it led to the master sword, which I honestly did not know was going to be in the same place as hestu and I wonder if I would have eventually gotten to the master sword naturally. After my first attempt to pull it out failed, I put it on the back burner until now.

Omg me too! I had soooo much heat resistant stuff that was taking up inventory space, so many frozen foods from hebra mountains, like 2 or 3 ice weapons, and I was so sure I was gonna use them up in death mountain. Then when I saw it was useless I was like wait what? Where the hell was I supposed to use them? Then I remembered that the gerudo lived in gerudo desert and went there instead, thinking that's probably where I'm supposed to use them. Was glad to finally be rid of them when I made it to the desert.

But then at night the temperate drops down to freezing in the desert lol.

Oh and speaking of hyrule castle, I just did a run of it. I can't believe a month ago that place terrified me and I would constantly be hiding, especially from those guardian enemies.

Actually the hyrule castle music is still pretty scary, does anyone else think so? The music is too strong and gets me agitated, a little bit jumpy tbh. Especially since it's a remix of a more calmer theme that's been... twisted. Almost a reflection of what happened to the castle thanks to calamity ganon.

But anyway yeah I took a run on hyrule castle and it's amazing how huge it is, so many hidden passages, I feel like I've been everywhere and yet probably still missed a spot. There was even a shrine in there!

What turned out to be a pleasant surprise was the master sword. I felt it was kinda meh when I finally pulled it out, only 30 attack power. But after a whim I used it while in hyrule castle and felt that something was off, it looked like it had a blue glow. And it did, plus the attack power doubled to a whopping 60! And it wouldn't break! I kept trying to use it even on objects like barrels and boxes just to see if it would break/need to recharge like it normally does.

Definitely used it on guardians, who for the longest time I'd only been relying on shield parrying, until I noticed that when I attacked them with high level weapons, it actually does kill them. No longer will I have to solely rely on shield parrying or wasting ancient arrows.

Basically wanted to farm ancient cores and giant ancient cores. I got the ancient armor set fully upgraded. It gives better defense than the barbarian set, but the barbarian set triples my attack power if I'm not mistaken. Not sure which to be my battle gear for the rest of the game.

Didn't want to face ganon just yet, so after killing so many guardian stalkers and turrets, I left to find the rest of the memories.

Oh my god. Did Link just do a... ta-da pose? Lol that honestly impressed me more than the actual feat.

But yeah I never really thought to fight on horseback because it's kinda clunky. Did he just rush the guardian while mashing the attack button? No need to use a horse spur or anything? Gonna try to see if that's practical.

Hold the attack button with a Lance don't mash it. You can use a sword as well but it's actually less effective. This video is more about showing off than it is about efficiency.

Master mode is honestly a great way to replay the game imo. It isn't really that different once you get some power ups, but you can game the system a little bit to help you out. For me, the very first thing I did off the great plateau was beeline it straight to the Korok mask. I took everything else pretty slow though.

I was wondering about that. When I attack with the ancient weapon on guardians, there's a bigger blast than when I attack regular enemies with ancient weapons. So it does do more on guardians. Gonna get the spear from one of the many test of strength trials. When I found out even the shrine guardians respawned after a blood moon, I was very excited.

Something I've been wondering though, are there like, alternate cutscenes or endings? If someone went to fight ganon without doing any divine beast, do they get a different cutscene? How about no divine beast, no master sword, nothing?

Don't want any spoilers, just curious.

Because I noticed that text changed when I had the master sword and when I didn't. When I went to see the gerudo chief, there was a line about how come I didn't have my master sword with me, but in a different save file I talked to them with the master sword and that line was cut entirely.

Once I do decide to actually fight ganon I'll ask more. Can't believe I'm so close to beating the game, I'm taking a breather because I don't want it to end too fast, I kind of want to spend another week with the game at least.

Yeah theres alternate scenes and endings depending on if you got all the memories, if you got the sword, and of you freed all the divine beasts.

If you fulfill each category you get a special ending, if you miss something then you get a different ending. Also the latter ending is affected based on which divine beasts you've freed.

The answer is that some scenes are omitted, mostly depending on whether you completed the Divine Beasts. If you do all the main quests in the base game, you will see the complete ending.

Btw, do you have the DLC? I'd recommend you play through it before fighting Ganon, it's pretty fun. And the reward for the trial of the sword (minor spoilers) is that the Master Sword can survive more hits and gets permanent damage upgrades, up to 60 on every enemy. So if you complete all trials, the sword will always glow and do 60 damage, and last much much longer between recharges.

Its definitely a masterpiece and deserved the praise it got. Theres certain things I can complain about though. A lot of fetch quests, not enough intricate sidequests (though there certainly were some, just they were few and far between).

I'd be down on adding to the story a bit. I didn't mind the flashback method of telling the story but the story itself was pretty meh, but I understand that wasn't really the focus of the game. But now that the physics and open world concepts have been introduced and expected, they can maybe make a better story next time around now that they don't have to spend much time on the engine.

The korok seeds became pretty predictable, it was just a matter of finding them most of the time a lot of them followed the same basic pattern though.

People complained about enemy diversity but I thought there was enough. It's just that bokoblins/lizalflos/moblins were much more common than others but there were plenty of other enemies to fight. A few more wouldn't hurt though.

I didn't mind the weapon durability system. I never really ran out of weapons and as you progress you find yourself replacing good weapons with more good weapons, though I would make them last a little longer though because it did get annoying having to switch so much.

Can't wait for the sequel they've announced though. Got a feeling its gonna be good. Like what MM was to OoT

Ok thanks guys! Once I beat the game after getting everything, I want to see those alternate cutscenes at some point.

I finally found the memory in goron mountain (must have scaled every damn cliff, all those rocks look the same)

And I think I'm gonna find the horse statue memory soon! What I did was turn on hero's path on my map and I realized there were pretty big chunks and sections of the map that I hadn't explored, so I'm gonna explore all of these.

Bought the DLC, mostly for the quality of life improvements in korok mask, horse saddle and travel medallion, although I've only just started using the latter 2. The korok mask is the one that really helped me, I've expanded everything to the max except shield stash, and honestly I don't think I feel like getting more korok seeds just for the shield stash.

Also I found the lord of the mountain! There was this green glow in satori mountain that I always see but never get to because I'd get way too distracted and the glow would disappear.

It's like instead of a rabbit blupee, it's a horse blupee. I snuck up to it to ride it and it has infinite spurs, but I can't register it at a stable for some reason... then I tried shooting arrows to see if it would drop rupees, but no dice.

Am I supposed to do anything with it? Oh and is there anything special about blupees? I don't want to keep shooting at the one in kakariko village with arrows just for a few dropped rupees here and there, seems like a waste.

Nag, it's just there to be a cool thing you can encounter/ride but you can't keep it. As far as blupees go, no they just drop rupees. It's random how much they drop, but if you get a lot of hits in (slow time down with bow and fire away, sneak up and charged spear attack) then they usually drop a good bit. But yeah they're not really worth it to sit around farming imo.

Little advice that's not immediately obvious, attacks delivered to the Lynel while riding it don't count towards damaging your weapon, so it's pretty easy way to not break any swords or spears in a battle against even golds.

does sledding/skateboarding on a shield knock durability?

Yes but sledding will never break a shield only reduce it to 1 durability left.

Does anyone have a preferred cooking dish? I have 300 raw prime meat, it's by far my best resource since wolves drop it and they're everywhere.

I wanted to try upgrading some gear but honestly it's ridiculous how much swift violet is required considering they're only on some mountains and I don't want to waste time farming them, too tedious. It's the material that I have the least of in the entire game in terms of how much is needed vs how much I have.

I got into cooking a lot, especially after my first run through the game. I used eggs and rice a lot with different meats. Ate a lot of fish too, since they're easy to get in that one town that looks like its Nintendo trying to make Hawaii. (I forget the name.) Basically I had fun cooking stuff that I would actually want to eat myself, not just stuff that's good for in game buffs.

If you like cooking, doing the cooking side quest with the little girl in (ugh I am so bad remembering names) the town you first go to, for the story, after leaving the plateau is really fun and teaches you some interesting dishes.
