Blacks feel they can't let that word get a free pass because if we do it will result in us going backwards to a time where we can be openly disrespected and eventually assaulted and people would get away with it.

There has to be some type of consequences or defense mechanism for crossing that line

As far as the rampant use within the Black community, that's in some form a coping mechanism, in some form a result of social programming via entertainers and others within the community and in some form internalized self hatedepending on who uses it and how it's used

I think almost everyone is misunderstanding TC, the reactive posts are on here are indicative of that.

First off

1) The Rap genre is infamous for using that word when said word has a loaded history behind it, the other variation of that word should never be used either because it just perpetuates the problem. Very rarely other genres ever had used that word, but Rap Genre continues to keep using it and to be fair though it is much less common than it was back in the 1990s.

2) Families and Friends that keep using that word as a insult or as another word for as my brother/sister; you're not helping matters for perpetuating it.

TC was just more direct than people are comfortable with; c'mon people you guys are not Resetera.

TC really isn't being racist, but pointing out the problem where the racism is coming from.

The N-word has been in the English lexicon since the 18th century. People said the n-word when black people were being 'respectable', they called black people the n-word when they were wearing suits, military uniforms. Also black people didn't make rap music mainstream. They sure as hell fought to be seen as equals in the music industry but it wasn't until white America accepted it did it become mainstream.

Hip hop has been black (and Latin) since it's inception. It's been an artistic culture for marginalized races to express themselves in music, art, and dance.

White people coming into this culture demanding:

1. That they can say the n-word.

Then hip hop artist should stop marketing, selling, and singing it to them. Imprinting the word into white youths mind, and why certain things are censored or banned to avoid just that.

So they should be blunt and tell them this music isnt for them and to stop purchasing the music, singing it, buying their concert tickets and so on.

But we both know that's not going to happen. Profits before culture after all.
