First off, here's a good one which I find ironic, given your current stance about how offended you are by what I posted:

Yes, I agree Tim. People downplaying the Coronavirus because they might not personally be affected by it is terrible. It's almost like I had a similar thought and made a post about that. Let's fast forward.

April 1st, 10:32 AM, Politics Containment Topic 288: "Jesus christ" in response to a post from me reading "One good thing I'll say about the quarantine is that it's nice to see obnoxious, privileged "conservative" white dudes actually having to experience hardship for the first time in their lives, and complaining about how it's unfair that the actions of society negatively impact them for once."

While I understand your annoyance, given that you already dislike me and didn't seek out the context behind the statement because you automatically believed the worst about what I said and you're not intellectually ambitious enough to learn new information that doesn't confirm your pre-existing biases, allow me to provide context anyway.

Those people you were complaining about in that earlier post I quoted? Yeah, I don't know if you just ignore their messages because they're "conservatives" and thus you guys are all on the same team and can never level criticism towards one another at any time...but there are posters in the politics topics named SmartMuffin and SephirothG. Their whole MO is generally the whole libertarian mindset of "I don't give a shit about the negative impacts of issue X, Y, or Z, because it doesn't negatively affect ME", usually in a racist, sexist, homophobia, or just generally anti-liberal fashion because, well, let's face it...conservatives don't have any ideology other than "liberals=bad".

With regards to the coronavirus, we've had a great deal of lockdowns and quarantines, and a lot of shopping has ceased and businesses are shuttering their doors for the time being. In response to this, while people like you, Tim, are out working hard and catching the coronavirus as a result of having a hands-on job, these entitled little douchebags, who have never experienced any REAL hardship of any kind, have recently taken to the politics topics to whine about how the quarantine is infringing on their civil rights, or it's negatively impacting their portfolio, or they can't go out to their favorite bar on a Friday night. While there are people genuinely suffering and afflicted by the Coronavirus (yourself included, remember), their concern is the petty, minor impact on their already safe and privileged lives.

MY post was specifically directed to the fact that, said douchebags, who have a LONG history of sneering whenever the very THOUGHT of having empathy towards the plight of others, are now bitching and moaning and whining because, for the first time in their privileged lives, they're experiencing (a VERY minimal) level of hardship, and suddenly we as a society need to drop EVERYTHING to reset society to the way it was for THEM. My point was that the Coronavirus sucks. It sucks to get sick. It sucks to worry about your relatives getting sick or potentially dying. It sucks that, even if everything is safe and healthy, the quarantine IS causing hardships. But at the very least, those smug assholes are experiencing the EXACT same hardship as everyone else for once in their lives, and their whining provides a modicum of schadenfreude.

Actually, I re-read my own post that Tim got all pissy about and realized that he's being even MORE irrational. I didn't even say there was a good thing about the CORONAVIRUS. I said there was a good thing about the QUARANTINE (that being everything laid out in the above post).

I was never criticizing you. I understand why you would be annoyed and you never really implied that the officer was doing anything other than his job, even if he was unknowingly doing it wrong (even though expecting an officer to be familiar with your specific case while enforcing a brand new and ill-defined and inconsistent law when literally every business defying the order claims to be exempt is a tad unrealistic.)

My reply was directed solely at whoever it was that implied the officer was harassing you, which is ridiculous.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that TimJab, in his idiotic glory, is kinda proving my point about spoiled entitlement? I make a comment about how the ONE positive I've found in this whole situation is getting to see spoiled white dudes (eg. Smuffin/Sephy) whine about how their social lives and portfolios are negatively impacted by quarantining, and TimJab likens this to advocating for white genocide. IE. Even if you ignore the fact that, taken in the context of the topic, it's clear I'm talking about whiny yuppies like Smuffin and Sephy whining about how their rights to drink microbrews are being infringed upon...even the sole post TimJab quoted was wildly misinterpreted. Quarantine is not Coronavirus, and there's an entire end clause that explains the point of the comment.

Once again, TimJab is overly emotional and doesn't think before he reacts, and now he's trying to claim that he's just trolling, rather than having been the same kind of emotional idiot he always is.

If he/she had said "One good thing about coronavirus is it drove the market down and I was able to buy in and make a lot of money," that would still be unacceptable. But he literally chose human suffering (based on race and sex) as his/her bright spot.

I mean.... there are insulated people of races other than white. Maybe there are MORE insulated white people.... even by orders of magnitude, but to explicitly say white people does make it a racist statement. If Inviso just said it knocked entitled/privileged/insulated people in general I think the point would be far better.

I mean, my post literally specified "obnoxious", "privileged", and "conservative" (in quotes because their beliefs aren't conservative in the slightest) before "white dudes". It was very targeted at a specific class of people (eg. Smuffin/Sephy) whining on an internet message board about how their biggest hardship during the whole quarantine is that they can't go about their regular routine, and that ALONE is enough that we should abandon quarantines and let people just risk catching corona and dying. At least THEY won't be inconvenienced if the quarantine is lifted.

Not at all. And when I see a consistent pattern of white women and non-white people downplaying the coronavirus and whining about how we should just let people die, rather than "sending the U.S. into fascism", then I'll laugh and laugh and call them out as well. Unfortunately, there's no demographic in particular that really does this anywhere NEAR to the same extent as, well, white dudes.

yes, it was literally a meme that spread out of control and also became misinformation and conspiracy theory

This is a very different situation than what Inviso is complaining about, which is people that have the facts and still advocate for lifting the quarantine and letting people die, and making it was a bad comparison.
