Are you going major chain or mom and pop shops?

I am trying to go to mom and pop shops but many are closed. In the early morning(my dinner) I am forced to go to major chain since the mom and pop shops aren't open when I eat 6-7AM. But for my first meal of the day I am trying to exclusively eat mom and pop

I have stock of can goods, soups, rice and the likes, but I am eating out to save those as well as to help local businesses.

Mainly this. Just whatever I'm in the mood for...

That being said, it's normally a chain place. We have a lot (way too many) local places here. I think a good amount are shut down right now, but a few may still be open. If I like the food, people, or price, I'll go. But I usually don't. But I don't get food from other places as much, I think. And I might start cooking more again... maybe...

I try to get a meal a week from a local chain or restaurant. I get it delivered since GrubHub is basically doing $1 delivery on all orders.

But I just cant mentally get past the idea that someone will be prepping my food and breathing all over it.
Eating exclusively at home has been nice.

Still am mostly. Getting food from places is not something we did a lot before, and have much less now.

For now, yeah; when I do go out I've been sticking to the locally-owned restaurants.

You should just stop eating out together if you're concerned about a little breath. Corona isn't even the big 5 for highly infectious, highly dangerous food borne illnesses.

I can't even risk getting delivery sadly. Actually I miss going out to eat more than anything. I used to do that about every other day, and it was my primary method of socializing since moving to Tacoma.

I left all my friends behind. All my relatives and my wife are dead. My cat is gone, it's just me.

Even though I didn't actually interact that much when I went out to eat, i did talk to waitresses etc, and sometimes random people (Same when I went shopping 2-3 times a week). I tried to go out almost every day of the week in fact.

When your all alone and older, it's pretty much your only escape from the place you live. I did to water areobics for a bit, but stopped when I got pnuemonia about 3 months ago or so now. I was hoping to travel and interact more once spring hit and there wasn't so few daylight hours, instead the virus happened and I don't even get to go out to eat.

I was already REALLY tired of living in this basement, seriously considering spending another 200-300$ a month just to rent an apartment that actually had windows that let light in and had my own kitchen etc. Now I fight every day not to just go out and get in my car and randomly drive ANYWHERE.

My wife passed Feb/2017, my brother about 3 years before that in 2014 I think it was, my Mother was back in 2011.
My brother was 2 years younger than me.

I do have extended family though, but nobody that lives near me or that I interact with on a regular basis etc. Cousins etc.

It's not trolling. If anything, what you did was closer to trolling. Naming a chain, but saying you wouldn't support specifically national sounds like you wanted this to happen. Especially since TC never mentioned the chains he was talking about being national or regional...

So know you're being obtuse knowing major chains includes primarily national chains. In-n-out isn't considered either, it's a regional chain.

No. I wasn't thinking about that because that wasn't the question TC asked. He asked majors chains or mom & pop shops. Major chains include both national and regional. You're the only one who brought up national chains, knowing (and probably hoping) that someone would say something about In-N-Out just so you could call them out on it and say they were trolling. When it's more like you were trolling just to be able to do what you're doing now...

Me too.

I don't have the energy to cook much, it's also a struggle at times to find the particular meat I'm in the mood for currently, so I'm still getting fast food almost ever day going to and home from work. I work at an essential place.

I would consider anything over 10 restuarants a major chain. Most of the "chain" restaurants I eat at don't have more then 5-6 locations, and even those I feel kind of bad eating at over a smaller restaurant.

A store is literally a chain even if they only have two locations.
