I work at a company.

When I got to the company, the mentality of our generation was..."**** yeah, we made it...got real jobs, worked hard, now I can afford a car, a house, I can travel...got a flatscreen, a yard, a PS3...yeah!

Now the kids I'm employing come to me on THEIR FIRST DAY asking to become partner, say ridiculous things like "I want my starting salary to be X" and say things like "You're lucky I come to work everyday, most people won't even do that" and so few of them are fit to handle high stress situations.

It's like what happened?? This hatred of the upper class makes people feel entitled to some of that wealth? WHY? What have YOU done?

Do people realize that if you make more than 20k a year (Poverty in many states) you are richer than MOST people on the planet? 10% of the world population is so poor, if you made only 2k in a year, you would STILL be wealthier than them? Tell you what, how about all these kids just coming out of college with their 40k a year jobs cut out all utilities except heat, bike to work everyday, eat on a dollar a day and donate the rest....maybe then they'll have the right to tell the CEO's of Walmart to donate their salaries to every Walmart employee (and they'd each get like, what, 100 bucks? ) JUSTICE goes both ways. There is always someone less fortunate. These ****ing city kids walk right past homeless people everyday without looking up to go home and complain on facebook about Amazon, GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE WITH THAT SHIT.

"Nobody needs that much" -- people referring to billionaires.

YEAH no shit, nobody needs a phone, a car, a tv, a game system, credit card, electricity, internet....but I lived in poverty. I worked minimum wage jobs for years, lived with 4 or 5 guys in a 3 bedroom house. It was a blast. We had food, vehicles, video games, drugs, it was awesome. THAT'S AMERICAN POVERTY...a BETTER LIFE THAN 99.9% of people that have EVER LIVED. I recommend people travel or go camping somewhere remote. You'll find out real quick you don't need more than other people around you to get by in life.

And then it's like yeah, sure there are some rich assholes who are keeping too much for themselves but...there are also really, really good people too. Thing is you'll never hear about them. They are almost ashamed of their wealth. But go google them right now and be prepared to cry because I bet you didn't know that kind of kindness existed in the world....it's just not fun to talk about. An anonymous billionaire dying and donating everything to local schools just doesn't make headlines...there's no name, no tale, no legacy, no story...

But you know what, if you really think Amazon/Walmart are so evil then stop buying shit from them. You don't have to shop at these corporations that are bigger than the government. But you do it and then complain about them.

Kids complaining about Capitalism on facebook on their iPhone they bought off Ebay from a man in China, where it was built and shipped on a boat owned by a capitalist and yadddah yaddah. WOW the hypocrisy.

It's not the system...it's the people that control the system..right now our "Capitalist" system is a charade has been for 107 years...taken over...the money power slipped into government and allowed this "corporatocracy" to take place. The consequences of this corruption has tricked these stupid kids into thinking they need to turn over more power to the government to "fix" the economy and make the rich "pay their fair share" when it reality it will just help to rich to "legalize" the control of the population.

How fucking moronic is it to think that the money power, the power that which already controls the government and the media.... would allow anyone to get in that could overturn them? Are you serious? They got fooled into letting a revolutionary in office in the 60s...once they realized their mistake they shot him in the ****ing head, in broad daylight in front of a crowd, immediately took away all the good he was trying to do and started a war. The only way to change the world that will FOR SURE WORK is to affect change is in your own communities. Shop local. Support the little guy. Volunteer. Boycott and protest Amazon for treating their employee's like shit. Organize a revolt and stop paying stupid high insurance premiums. Money doesn't help the homeless, most of them need PEOPLE to help them not MONEY.

idk. And it's like on here, this message board, I don't know or recognize any of you... I just shit post and puke out my trash opinions on video games but like, I just see so many of you spute utter garbage about the state of the world and it's so frustrating especially if i'm picturing you in your mom's basement or as the anti-social weirdo's many of you are. It's like how the fuck do you know what's best? At least attempt to see the whole picture. Quit picking a team, arguing repub vs democrat as if it makes a ****ing real difference in your life.

idk i'm sorry i've been drinking and smoking just feeling frustrated. have a good night.

lmfao, I've been saying for years we should burn the whole system down. The private corporations, the government, the rich assholes hoarding wealth, and those propagating and facilitating a system that intentionally creates people who act hostile to one another and teaches people this is okay behavior because it's dog eat dog or bust.

Cooperation beats competition every single day of the week. The evil assholes are cooperating while we believe we can compete against ourselves to beat them. It's fucking hilarious and sad.

I grew up poor too and I've worked hard to get what little I have in life. I understand your initial sentiments, but you have to rise above that "I did it so you have to as well" bullshit that's clearly been crammed into your head.

idk if you finished reading but i most certainly agree with you, that's why i say start with your own communities. It's easy to cooperate with people that are standing in front of you...much more likely to compromise on an idea if you have to see them all the time yannow... I'll I'm asking is for the people that can rise up, should do so. To act like there isn't an entitled generation coming into the workforce, though, well that I can at least claim from personal experience.

But what's happening is they are dividing us up to battle ourselves while they run away with all the money..the BIG money not billionaires...the people with more than that. And it's working so good right now.

More like "other people are suffering so much, can you maybe go with out that third big mac and put a dollar in the cancer donation box?"

People who are "suffering" because they don't have what they WANT are less important than people who are suffering because they don't have the things they NEED. Ya feel me? That's my opinion anyway.

I don't tend to agree with the entitled generation moving into the workplace thing. I've met a few over the years, but I'm not so sure that it had so much to do with what they genuinely believed so much as it was what they were taught by the system, especially those who went to school. The idea that when you're done with education you will have a high paying job was sold to me as well. I went, met a bunch of cool, smart, hardworking people who want to do good and put it into the world for everyone to be happy. Unfortunately, what they tended to lack was wisdom (I was a few years ahead of them all when I went back to college) to deal with the amount of information and education they were receiving.

And as a result, you get a fuck ton of angry young adults coming out of college ready to dismantle/alter/regain control of the system that just showed them the disaster that's coming...but that's the rub...the system taught them...and they taught them just enough to know and see it...but not effectively communicate with those who didn't go and didn't learn. Those that believe all you need is a job and a few placating comforts...and who do not like being told they are being turned into slaves.

That particular division is what I feel like you might be seeing in the workplace. The system summarily took the children of an entire generation, taught them, dangled disaster in their face, and then mocked them through the division this education created, knowing they will never be able to stop it. And this is even worse for the parents of the past 2 generations (at least)...

...basically...look at what they did to your boy, pa. *cue tragic music*

I like you you a thinker

Last time I drank and posted i ranted about how shitty/completely useless college was for me. Perhaps I shouldn't put all the blame on the kids.

It's just extremely frustrating and this is the only place I can vent about it. I try to take them under my wing, I really do. We have a lot in common, it's just there's this divide I can't quite explain. It's really became apparent in the last five years or so.

It's just...man, the gumption you gotta have to say you understand the world at 23 is just like...yeah bro sure. Never left the country? Went to uni in your city? 2 serious girlfriends?

ok buddy you gonna learn quick

but as I think back to me at 23 maybe I wasn't much different

Glad i could help.

All I can say is understanding their frustration might help you deal with your own frustration, because the wisest thing one can ever do is remember that you can control how you react even when others can't.

As I work with younger people in my workplace too, both before and during their college years, I've decided that to help them, the best thing I can do is show them that there are some others just ahead of them in the workforce that get it and also does good and will listen to them. I've taken a few under my wing here and there and helped them navigate the workplace and taught them what I know. But most importantly, I show them that there are people out there that want the same kind of world they do, but the only way to achieve that really is cooperation. And if you're going to lead, lead by example. I stress cooperation to my whole team, even when there is a slight air of competition to it. As a result, I've helped build a team in the workplace that has each other's backs and we all take our hits on the chin because we all know there will be days when we don't because the others are while we all get along to the end of the day and make some money and keep a stable work and positive work environment.

I can understand why college isn't the route for many and there's no shame in not taking to it. I sometimes think there are aspects to higher education that are purposefully designed to be prohibitive even if it hides behind good intent (we all know what good intent paves the way to).

Amen, to be honest I don't have a whole lot of beef with them. I'm kind and patient at work, these kids keep tryin' to add me on Call of Duty so I think I'm a good guy.

But i'm not letting down the fact that i have had a select few that were so clearly delusional about the workings of the world I literally thought they were joking. Maybe they were.

This rant started mainly because of people on gamefaqs and facebook just posting things that piss me off tonight

That is a valid point. I've worked in a few different places and there are a boatload of fucking managers and bosses out there that basically...you can never please them even when you've done everything perfect. In fact, do it perfect once and they expect it every day and the one time you don't they use it as an excuse to not pay you more or even recognize your efforts.

But, again...when your boss thinks he's going to lose his job because he can't motivate you to work for peanuts, I suppose they will just treat you whatever which way.

Okay, I probably need to go to bed now, because the amount of anger that just surged through me thinking about all the bullshit we put up with on the bottom rungs of society might actually get me to rant. Good evening gentlemen.
