Tornado watches aren't really a big deal, tbh. They get issued for massive areas. My county was in a tornado watch earlier today, but the actual storm was like 100 miles to the southeast and we hardly even had any cloud cover.

Im sorry youre going through that. My roommate was at work when a tornado tore through her building at like 1 am last month and she was very lucky to make it out ok- building was totaled. It being night and already raining, I know now the sound of wind and rain esp at night freak her out still. Glad were getting out of that season finally.

The big thing to look for is clouds moving several directions all at once, particularly the lower clouds and upper clouds moving opposite directions.



The tornado is almost always on the southwest corner of the cell (in North America, anyway), so keep an eye on the radar as well.

Yeah its loud, I dont ever know when a bad rainstorm is gonna warrant a tornado watch tho, Im not from this region originally. I always find out from stuff like this or people actually texting me to be safe haha

A watch just means conditions are right for a potential tornado. A warning means there is actively one occurring. I wouldn't stress over it

If you get some big ol fat hail, start to worry. Also keep an eye on the radar for hook echoes.

Worst thing is to have a tornado siren go off after dark when you cant see anything.I have a well I can jump into atleast.Water level is about 3ft from the top i should be good.

Oh I know I just tend to take watches seriously. 11 years ago I ignored a watch that became a warning and it nearly ended badly.

So now whenever there's a watch I put my attention on it because you never know.

My roomie that was in a tornado last month got the alert on her phone and in less than 2 mins later got rocked by it. Better not to wait for the alert...

My area got littered with heavy winds and hail about home hour ago. Im thinking it passed for me but Im staying up just to be sure.

Hopefully, this storm amounts to nothing on the level of a tornado.
