I dont use the term Karen because I find it overused like boomer, etc.

Though I'm not saying its a slur on par with the N word, it is almost exclusively used against white women, so I think calling it a slur would be accurate to some degree, despite there not being 200+ years of history behind it.

Around here Karen won't get you punched, while entitled asshole has a decent shot of it. I'd rather not get punched because some entitled asshole is mad there's not more lanes open at Walmart tbh.

He didn't even start shouting about being in a hurry or having somewhere important to be. He was just... Mad to have to wait.

Honesty I feel worse for the employee putting that fire out, with a smile.

We told the guy we were sorry that happened, and he just smiled and said it wasn't a big deal.

It was stressful for us, and probably other patrons sure. But I was feeling pretty bad for the workers dealing with that crap.

Explains why I've never heard of it. I pay little attention and give little respect to idiots, SJW's, the easily offended, and the like. Lot of times this stuff pops up from a show or movie I didn't see. Turns into a meme maybe. Oh well, doesn't make a difference to me.

For those who don't know... A Karen is a customer who is extremely annoying and unreasonable who frequently demands to speak to the manager when their needs/demands are not met regardless of how stupid or inane the need/demand is. They'll usually make the workers life a living hell and demand they get fired or something similar. So if your pet store refuses to sell a woman a clownfish because she clearly doesn't have the capability to take care of it and will just plop it in a generic fishbowl because the only reason she wants the fish is her kid screaming 'I want Nemo'... You could get fired if the Karen has her way. Or if you catch her ripping open card packs in your store because 'she only wants the good ones' and demand she pay for the damaged merchandise... she'll try to frame it like you're the one in the wrong and demand your manager fire you. Or if she tries to plop down a ton of 'buy one get one free' coupons to try and walk out of the store with a ton of free product and you point out that it's limit 1 per customer, expired, and for a different product than what she's trying to steal... You're the one in the wrong. According to her at least.

It's got nothing to do with sex or the like as there are plenty of male Karen's. It's just that the sort of personality that leads to Karen's being Karen's is extremely common in middle-age white women.

The Customer Is Always Right is a terrible mindset. Entitled customers walk all over employees and managers gladly sell their employees out to make a quick sale. If you stand up to a Karen for any reason at all the manager will side with them which is... freaking TERRIBLE! Like, do they honestly think we just said 'no' idly to their insane demand?

That may be your personal interpretation, but that isn't the actual definition of the word.

You're probably confusing the more specialized terms "racial slur" or "ethnic slur" with the overall general definition of "slur". But like it or not, if you're using a specific name as a shorthand insult for a specific type of person? Congrats, that's a slur.

You can argue that someone shouldn't be offended by a term, or that it's perfectly acceptable to use it to shit on a very specific type of person, but it's still a slur no matter what.

All the damn time. I am in a few gaming groups and I will often call the older lady's in like my Mahjong, canasta, or whatever group Karen if they do something I don't like. They have no idea what I am talking about.
