She's absolutely right. We need to make sure our resources and relief are being distributed equitably.

Consider that the President's response team has shown more favor to Red/Homogeneous states despite their lesser population.

What evidence is there that suggests relief isn't being "distributed equitably" and discriminates against people of color???? A lot of the "Red States" you mentioned have a high concentration of people of color.

Unless you have a whole lot of money, everyone is basically getting the same treatment right now. Doctors aren't seeing patients with symptoms and telling them to stay at home.

If you're sick enough, you go into a hospital and I guarantee they aren't discriminating there.

For the same reason we still have the same constitution, and countries still pay debts from WWI: governments are constant institutions, and nothing about our politics makes sense without that basic assumption.

This probably isn't because the virus itself targets black people, and it probably isn't just some weird coincidence. We can work to change the circumstances that result in outcomes like this, or we can say outcomes like this are fine the next time around too.

That is a horrid comparison. War debts are agreements made between contries for repayment, same as a loan.

Americans alive today made no such contract. Aside from this, why should I be forced to pay out of my paycheck for this? I never owned slaves. My ancestors never owned slaves. My ancestors fought in the Civil War to end slavery. That "reparation" was already paid with blood.

The modern "reparation" movement is simply another scheme at wealth transfer. Call it what it is, as it has zero to do with righting wrongs to people long dead.

Poor infrastructure, lack of safety nets, and of course systemic issues that make black Americans less likely to climb beyond what's currently called "essential jobs" where they're risking their health for minimum wage. Then there's systemic issues with what safety nets might exist.

Couldn't this also be that the virus has mainly hit the Detroit area, which could likely be a lot closer to the demographics of people getting sick than the state as a whole?

I was thinking this too. Detroit is 86% Black so when put in context the stats don't look nearly as bad. 35% Black infected 65 non Black
