I would've gotten it day 1 if Doom Eternal and FFVII Remake weren't so close, lmao. I'll probably wait until May or some time later for it.

I got all 3. Paid 40 for doom on offerup, paid 45 for FF7 on amazon through a promo they ran. And I just paid 35 with a credit for RE3 digital, but I also have the collectors coming tomorrow

3 hours in just hit the hospital. I assume theres about an hour left but Im having a blast

Why do Resident Evil games have to be cheesy and short? I mean tbh they've all got some cheese, but I don't see why the average RE fan thinks a 4 hour campaign that they'll start over on a harder difficulty and move on and forget about in a month (being generous) is worth 60 dollars.

self-imposed challenges aren't the content people say it is, the same way a pair of shoes that makes you walk faster isn't the reward RE7 thinks it is.
Graphics got better (maybe voice-acting?) but everything else is regressing

Don't have RE3 yet, but RE2 was incredibly fun and got the horror mood better than other modern Resident Evils.

I spent 33 hours on RE2make according to Steam (I guess 20-25h playtime). Was worth every penny.

So if RE3make will last me 15-20 hours of playtime and is just as fun? That'll be worth my money too. Though I'm kinda worried about Nemesis and the larger focus on action, part of what I loved about RE2make was the freedom of exploration and hunting secrets.

I never realized how short RE games were until I watched my friend play the RE2 remake. I mean yeah, there's Claire's story, and harder difficulties, but he beat that thing quick af.

the reason why i'll die on this hill is because believe it or not, i love RE, but people are going apeshit over games with less and less content, and it's lowering the standard for the whole series, even though obviously the "true fans" don't care. they'll pay 60 bucks, knock it out in a weekend, "omg that was amazing, goty", and forget they even played it by dinnertime.
I can only hope Revelations 3 is still in the pipeline

like 30 bucks is reasonable for people that want to 100% it (which is still the vast, vast, vast minority of purchasers)

short games aren't inherently bad games, but i can't justify 60 bucks for a handful of hours of entertainment

The game Inside is a good example. Really really interesting game, super atmospheric and a lot of stuff it leaves in your head to think about, but i'd never pay whatever the full price was for it. It was free at the time

It doesn't matter how short or long a game is. That doesn't determine price. Someone could easily feel like they've got their money's worth if the game is short but satisfying to them. You don't determine what's a quality product for other people, and your standards only apply to you.

Rev2 made a huge mistake releasing episodically, could have done without the AI partner gimmicks, and I personally don't care for two characters for two half-stories over one character and one meaty story, but there was still tons to do, tons to collect, all of RE's staples (ranks, time challenges) plus weapon parts and upgrades. It had content. And even though it was really easy, Raid 2.0 was really really good. They even brought back Rachael

and the slaughterhouse part was nuts

IIRC the issue here is RE2+3 remakes were supposed to be 1 game / bundled. But then they couldn't finish RE3make in time and ended up leaving the whole thing horribly rushed?

I mean, one of the main complaints I see about both is how much they change and skip from the original versions

Despite the fact that it was clearly lower budget and definitely had issues, I got a lot more out of revelations 2 than I did RE2. And as much as I've been quite vocal in the past about being dissatisfied with RE2, it was nowhere near as bad as 6.

It wasn't unplayable, but I guess I did enjoy Rev2.
It's just, Rev2 was so damn full of horribly annoying moments (especially the fucking 1shot deaths everywhere) and it seriously soured my experience when I accidentally got the bad end on the first playthrough with no clues that there's a different ending (found out only after going to sleep and checking the next day).

And now compare it to RE2make. I enjoyed the majority of it a lot: it plays great, it looks great, more focus on horror and exploration than other modern REs and even zombies feel more dangerous than usual.
I didn't play any classic-style Resident Evil games so that may be why my opinion is more positive than that of others.

Entertainment is pretty broad. So I guess movie tickets, new blurays, putt-putt, arcades, dining out etc

However, I think we can both agree anyone is dumb to spend $60 for 6 hours when you can rent it... We're men of a higher caliber and worth and will buy it again for $10 if we care

RE7 was awesome, yeah. Though IIRC the beginning had very annoying gameplay and at the end it reduces itself to a mindless action game again. And it's a different kind of horror (Outlast) from the classic zombie horror of RE2make.
