Look: With my hair cut short to conceal my balding, I have been mistaken for as young as late teens/early 20s as recently as last year by people within ten years of my age up and down. I think I look old as shit but I don't know.

Feel: Physically? Better than ever. I cleaned up my diet, lost a bunch of weight, ditched booze, started doing calisthenics, yoga, and walking/jogging/running regularly. All of my various digestion problems, joint pain (including gout), chest pains, and general discomfort have mostly disappeared. I think by the end of the year I'll be able to meet my goal of running a 5k (provided Coronavirus doesn't run wild). I mean this wholeheartedly: at no point in my life I have I felt as physically good as I do now.

Mentally though, I feel much older. Between the problems imposed on me via nature/nurture and the causes I voluntarily take on, my life has been a series of struggles. I'm far better equipped for it these days, and a big part of that is improved physical health, but I'm just fucking exhausted.

Thinning more than balding but balding is definitely in my future. I'm not shiny... yet.

I've gotten to experience both extremes. I used to have a goddamned spectacular mane, until I was about 25 and it started falling out.

The thing is that they have shitty hair and good beards.

That's why they grow it the way they do.

I have good hair and a shitty beard growth.

But I'm outnumbered and they give me a hard time about it.

Also I'm not a big Dodge Ram driving person full of fishing poles and tools in the bed.

I'm more of a swag Cadillac driving type guy.

I get that, but still some people do look young. When people "underestimate" my age they guess 19-21. I tend to get tons of shocked reactions from people when they find out my real age. Most recent was a new co-worker who thought I was 23, 26 tops.

I would think it was just people being polite if it wasn't the same every single time, from people irl and online.

I agree. For me personally, I think it has to do with good genes. My mother and my older sister also don't look their ages and people tend to get shocked when they find out how old they really are. Just last summer, I was at doctor with my mother and there was a nurse practitioner there ans she asked how old I was and when I told her, she said "I thought you were around 18-19". Then she said to my mother "I don't think I wanna know how old you are".

I mean aside from having gained a little weight, I don't look any different than I did when I was in high school. Hell if my school were to have a reunion and they had an award for "Who's changed the least", I'd probably win. Lol.

People are always surprised when they find out how old I am. Last time I went to the hairdressers they asked me what I'm studying, assuming I was a student. I'm 33.
