My class transitioned to online and they basically took out most of the easier questions, put in more short answers, and more select all that applies while also increasing the number of questions

Also, no backtracking so you can't move ahead to an easier question and then come back to short-answers for the end.

I don't find them hard but I do find getting 100 question tests regularly now to be extremely tedious

The idea is you can just look that shit up. Closed book tests have always been easier than open note/book ones imo. It's also a fucking trap becauseyou can waste ages looking something up, and run out of time for the test.

I studied a decent amount, regrettably not as much as I would for normal in-class exams, but still. There was like almost no time to look all that shit up and fuck Microsoft Onenote search function is garbage

trust in the thought that if you've prepared and still have trouble then it means everyone else is and the grade will be curved. i had a sadist A&P professor who handed out 3 hour 500 question tests that were intentionally designed to be impossible and every one of those was curved.

I think I fucked up in that I don't have any friends/connections, they probably have cheating parties and a coordinated effort to take these exams since they opted not to go for remote proctoring.

dont do that! i'm guessing this is university level? if so i can absolutely promise you that they'd find out and you'd get fucked over.

had an immunology class where the final had to be done online at home because of a hurricane, which made it an open notes test and as such stupid easy. but a good third of the class took it to the next level and actually cheated on the damn thing, took screenshots of the answers and passed them around apparently, and it was a complete cluster fuck. everyone in the course got pulled in to talk to the honor council and professors in the biology department. it was a good couple months before anything was resolved, everyone in the course had a hold on their credit for the class while the investigation happened, and everyone involved got expelled.

Yeah, I also don't see how they would get caught; voice chats and anonymous names can go a long way if paranoid. Even a small group of colleagues/friends you can trust where you split up the study material/work is really substantial.

My online cell bio exam is tomorrow. 85 questions with 2 hours to complete it. Open book. My professor said she wants everyone to succeed so Im hoping she made it easy. I got an 80 on the practice test.

Damn, that's actually a lot of time, good luck.

Mine expects you to abide by the standard no cheating policy except now through the honor system, except they straight up made it tougher (in my opinion) so I feel like if you actually did take it honestly, seems like it'd screw them over too.

because cheaters are stupid and do stupid shit, like blab to someone who tells the professor or share answers that looks hilariously suspicious when you grade the test.

Yeah, my class got very lucky with a professor who really cares and wants everyone to earn high scores. Ive heard that many other professors have made the online exams extremely hard which is unfortunate. Weve never seen anything like this before in our lives and a lot of people arent taking it very well from the social distancing to the paranoia and etc. Giving your students much harder exams to stress over certainly isnt helping.

Grades came back for Monday's exam: Class average was a 65 with a median of 66

I got a 78; which correlates with how much I was above the class usually (+11-12 points above average).

Today's exam, I fucking hit submit and got a fucking 72 unless the answer key is horribly wrong. WTF?! My exam average for this class was a 92
