Former Vice President Joe Biden has emerged as Democrats top choice for the presidential nomination in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, but with only bare majority support within his party and a massive enthusiasm gap in a November matchup against President Donald Trump.

Indeed, strong enthusiasm for Biden among his supporters at just 24% is the lowest on record for a Democratic presidential candidate in 20 years of ABC/Post polls. More than twice as many of Trumps supporters are highly enthusiastic about supporting him, 53%.

Really depends what happens between 10 weeks to the election. If the pandemic ends early like in those 10 weeks, trump will use that on his platform and pretty much has it won. If he botches it and the pandemic goes on indefinitely, it's going to be hard for him to retain

He is a shit leader, no doubt about that, but is the reason he's not getting better numbers related to that in specific or is it simply because we are so polarized as a society that there simply isn't room for those numbers to shift as much as it might have in the past?

I mean I'm 38 now, My first election I could vote in was 2000. Shit was polarized after that, between the debacle in Florida and that election coming right after the Clinton impeachment but nothing like it is now.

I just think there are still a lot of (older) people in this country who aren't going to blanket believe the accusation, independently of it being Joe Biden.

You're really going to need a mainstream media outlet to find the story credible before it's going to impact things. It doesn't really help that the people who are really pushing the story are the type of people who would try to amplify any anti-Biden story without scrutiny. So if it's just leftists who had already sworn up and down that they won't vote for Biden and Trump supporters who have no leg to stand on, why would someone like e.g. my parents pay credence to the story?
