The original movie came out in 2008 and had Madhouse animating it, then it got licensed by Discotek for a dub in 2017 and they brought in Team Four Star (the DBZ Abridged guys) to help dub it. The reviews say that the story falls apart in the end, but if the comedy and art/animation are good, I'll probably still really enjoy it. Really wish they wouldn't have killed off La Pucelle so fast. It pretty much had no buildup and there was potential for an interesting character in a male magical girl.
