Lobotomies horrify me for a number of reasons. Mainly, because they were treated in the same way that Ritalin was for children in the 1990s, or Oprah Winfrey treats free merchandise.
Also, the developer and/or main proponent was struck off after he killed a woman. She died as a result of him pausing mid-operation for a photo opportunity. --- Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate. ... Copied to Clipboard!

lobotomy has always been fascinating to me Science is an incredible, transcendental process that exemplifies how incredible the human intellect can be. That said, it needs to be moderated by ethics and basic human decency. --- Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Walter Freeman II lost his medical license because of that, but he kept performing lobotomies for $25 a pop with his icepick method (where he'd shove an icepick into the brain by way of the eye socket and call it a day, no anesthesia required!) and showmanship attitude. He performed thousands of lobotomies, including Rosemary Kennedy (who was recommended by her family because she suffered from seizures and mood swings). --- Podcast/Audiobook Board https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/1364- View my ASCII art and others' at https://thenewhotness.info/ ... Calling lobotomies science is pushing it The idea was kinda well motivated at the time, and the original method was less ad-hoc than the icepick method. But really, this type of procedure was more about a societal solution for the severely mentally ill than anything else. Like, once Haloperidol was a thing, these procedures stopped being performed. Because then we had a pharmaceutical lobotomy. --- =E[(x-E[x])(y-E[y])] ... Copied to Clipboard!
