It's crazy how when this game first came out it was in the middle of Sandy and now when I'm playing the Remastered properly it's during Corona-chan's wrath, but thankfully it's managed to distract me from both well enough

That major plot twist at the beginning still gets me

Idk why no other game since then bothered with seasons

I like how realistic the gun and bow were as weapons, powerful but slow to reload so you weren't just shooting everything in sight, like an 18th century John Wick

You went back to restoring your own land again, it's like an M-rated Animal Crossing mechanic

King George DLC is still one of the nuttiest things to come out of the series and probably my favorite DLC from the game period

Haytham and Connor are both still some of the best characters in the series, I'm glad they retconned Connor to having a peaceful ending

Too bad these games get more meatier as they go along, I wonder how many more hours before I get to Odyssey

I didn't like any of the ones I tried playing after Bro Hood.

Especially the most recent ones. Felt like they completely changed the series and just made it a generic third person action game that focused more on combat than stealth and being an assassin.

I mean if your one of those people who enjoy everything about Assassin's Creed except for the actual Assassin parts then I can understand

Idk why Odyssey didn't just release as a separate IP; it's so far removed from what the series is all about

the twist early on was cool, I liked having a Native American protagonist, and that rope trap thing where you catch an enemy in a tree by their neck was pretty neat, but that's as far as my praise goes.

I wasn't feeling the game, and it was doubly disappointing because it got rid of the Truth Puzzles/Clusters from AC2 & ACB.

3 is what made me skip the next few. There was a lot to like about it, but the fundamental missions were all fucked with linearity.

Odyssey is basically "Gladiators: An Assassin's Creed Story (but not really)

If the next game is really set even FURTHER back in the past then I'd really not be interested

Unity and Syndicate though have an enhanced focus on the Assassination missions and really plotting your way to you target, loved that about those games

3 gets a lot of hate but I think it easily had the best combat in the series before it was completely revamped. Slamming an axe into a dudes face while rolling over their back was so sick.

The beginning is a slow burn sure, but they had a shitton of new mechanics and features and I'm kinda glad they took the time going through all of them

For what it's worth, Black Flag is incredibly more balanced with its pacing

I quite liked the beginning, actually. My major issue is that they want you to do missions in a very specific way, to the point that you wonder why they would even present other options. Doing your own thing is great. Upgrading is a pain in the ass, and the ship sequences feel like barebones filler, but I could live with those.

I didnt like it the first time I played it, but after I played AC Rogue, it made me want to play it again, and I did really enjoy it the second time around.

Yeah sometimes they'd be awful (the one where you have to protect George Washington AND kill two enemies in slow motion AND protect his bodyguards stumped me for a while) but I must be getting better at the series because I've done all of them so far lol

The ship segments were rough because they were new, Black Flag and Rogue really tuned them well into their own games

And yeah, Unity and Syndicate really did bring back the whole "here's your target, here are some potential routes to them, knock yourself out" that I loved about AC1

2 had the same problem, to be fair. I'll never forget the time you have to kill that guy with a gun. Tried like three different approaches before googling that you can only shoot the guy. Pissed me off so much. After that game I expected a lot of scripted bullshit, which was the case up until Unity basically.

It's funny how in both games players are willing to let one single thing ruin the entire game for them despite the numerous good things implemented, but are willing to overlook numerous fuck ups with other games in the series
