MM won the entire thing and saved the contest. Pokemon was probably 4th stongest game that decade no? Either way GSC didn't do much in BGE2k15 or BGE 2009

Imagine winning GOTD and then not even having enough nominations to enter BGE 2k15. Brawl was the very definition of an overhyped game for the moment that people would ignore and forget years later.

Yes the FFX/MM match was painful for you. I get it. I mean to me it was one of the greatest battles ever but lets be fucking real. Had FFX beat MM...there is no way in hell it was gonna beat Brawl.

Brawl had to be stopped. At all costs. Even if that meant a game probably deserving of GOTD game like FFX which was probably the legit #1 for that contest...got to miss out

Its hard. But sacrifices had to be made

And if recall...FFX had an 800 vote lead. I mean..it kind of bottled it.

Brawl was outright beating Majora for the rest of the match, but the slow start was too much to overcome. FFX would've done the same thing because, more than wanting Majora or FFX to win, they wanted Brawl to lose.

The fact that people wanted to rally around Zelda "just to be safe" ruined GOTD more than Brawl winning would have. It was always a stupid reason.

Brawl wasn't as antivoted as you think. It had a rabid fanbase back then full of the new Wii Generation Nintendo fanboys.

This game was the hypejob back then. Kind of like how Ultimate is now only there is a legimate game that is just vastly stonger than it(BOTW) so it has no chance unlike 2010 when Brawl was probably the strongest game in terms of how popular it was back then. But only at that time. Fast forward 5 years and the game went down the shithole.

Also I don't buy this theory that FFX would have beaten it because Brawl got antivoted. You're forgetting the Fanbase overlap. Zelda had it over smash in abundance. Even though MM was probably weaker the Nintendo overlap and LAW manage to help MM pull through.

I just would not have trusted FFX to beat Brawl at all. I just wouldn't have. FFX might have been antivoted more for beating Zelda.

Yes and i was one of them. Brawl had no business beating Melee. Melee would have gone on to win the contest. It probably would have been a FFX/Melee Rematch from 2k5 with Melee avenging the loss.

There was only one thing that was going to stop Brawl that contest and it was the LAW.

Maybe you're right..maybe FFX would have beaten it too. I just don't trust that theory. I don't trust FF at all.

Also Metroid Prime would destroy brawl now. Just for the record. Prime is much stronger now.

And the embrassment part is due to 2k15

Brawl wasn't even in the contest. BAck in 2010..it was just annoyance of Melee losing.

but there were certainly enough people who didn't want it to win to swing a match if it was against another game of comparable strength because that's what happened

I don't believe Majora was legitimately stronger than Brawl. If they had met before the finals, Brawl would've won, but because it was the "last chance," Majora boosted up enough to beat it.
