Inflation adjusted USD per year for the rest of your life. Minimum amount needed to give up employment.

Id probably give up employment if I had a guaranteed 30k income stream coming in for life. I dont believe my dad would for under 80k.

Youd have one hospital trip for surgery and suddenly youd be in disarray for quite some time.

Throw in a broken down car and some other random life event and youre toast.

There should be a N/A option. Don't think there's any amount that would prevent me at this stage in life from not working.

Take it easier, maybe. Work on my own schedule, definitely. Not work, can't do.

40k a year would let me live somewhere with better neighbors; 30k would be more than enough for where I am at now.

Does that include volunteer work, extension teaching, gigs, shows? Not going to give up fun stuff.

High stress, monkey-motion 12-15-hour-day corporate tripe? $10K

Pretty much. I enjoy work well enough. I'm in no rush to abandon it.

It'd have to be over 100k and even then I'd probably keep a part time job.

About $100-200 a week, I guess. It wouldn't take much at all. I value my free time very highly.

At least 80k, if I wasn't working I would want to do something philanthropic at least so I would need enough money to make at least a decent impact

100K or more, though I hardly see myself living that kind of lifestyle. I just want to be financially prepared if some particularly bad luck passes my way.

Well, I'm on disability for about $20k CND a year and living quite comfortably. If I were to have a kid I would need a bit more but not much, since I'd give up a lot of my stuff for them.
