The tutorial wasn't too bad... but now I am in this huge world I have no idea what I am doing. Haven't gotten a single level... barely beat this noonwraith thing in a well, and that's about it. I have a feeling the griffon is going to absolutely destroy me at level 1... no idea how to get new armor or weapons or potions, every ingredient I find seems to be something new and they are everywhere lol

Need some help here!

There should be a bulletin board in town with sidequests. Take those on to explore a bit and gain some XP. There are things called 'Places of Power' that will give you a skill point when you find them, make sure you get all of them on each continent.

You get new armor and weapons from drops, chests, merchants or crafting. Potions you have to find recipes for and then craft.

Do all the sidequests from the bulletin boards and visit the ? Spots. You should be able to beat the Griffin at lvl 3, lvl 5 is optimal.

I just started too - I'm pretty sure I was 2 or 3 when I beat the Griffin. It's fine.

But yeah, exploring in this game is part of it. Run around, sidequest, hit the question mark spots, craft stuff, loot treasures, and spend time wandering around. Don't just plow through the story quest.

just run around and do shit, do quests & travel to question marks on the map and shit like that. as others have said the bulletin board in towns is a good place to get a bunch of new activities to do. overall the game is not that complicated once you spend a little time in it, witcher 3 is one of those rpgs that seems a lot deeper & more complex than it actually is.

for the story, if you find yourself confused or dont know wtf is going on i always suggest checking the in-game glossary of characters, it is very helpful

I feel you

When I was first dropped into town I felt overwhelmed. But if you dig in and start doing a few quests youll get the hang of it.

Just watch out for bulletin boards and places of interest on your map.

Inns and bars will always sell food. Then there are NpCs that sell armor and ones that sell weapons. Others yet may specialize in selling materials.

Everything you craft is a one-time craft. Once you craft it you always have it. Some crafts are technically consumable but they replenish when you meditate.

You mean alchemy in this case, yeah (potions, bombs, etc)? Asking because I'm a noob too and have a few things I can brew potion-wise and would brew them all right now if it meant replenishment (with the alcohost or whatever)

If you need to regain health between encounters, try meditating for an hour.

Yep. Potions, bombs, oils, etc. once you craft them they are permanent additions to your inventory. The consumables like bombs are replenished with alcohest.

Honestly I enjoyed it the most when it was on lowest difficulty. One of the few games I intentionally made easy just to enjoy the story.

I just finish my first Witcher 3 playthrough which took 110 hours. Here are some of my tips.

*Do not roll as it consume stamina, use side step instead. In fact, use side step instead of blocking.
*Keep an eye of your armor and sword health. You do not want to be going to boss fights with weaken weapons.
*Stockup on food. There's one early side quest where you are unable to stock up once you start, and you will be in trouble if you run out of health healing items. I believe you also can't medicate during this side quest.
*Keep to the main road instead of going offroad. You're more likely to discover fast travel point this way.

I'm 60 hours in and I have to force myself to play it at times. The story and characters are fantastic, great ways to play through quests in unique ways.

To bad the gameplay just feels to dated and I despise how floaty it feels.

Buy all the Gwent cards at shops, and play each person you come across at least once to gain a card from them, sometimes theyre unique. Characters you can play against are the inns/tavern owners, shopkeepers, & main characters.

There are a few missions where you can or will have to play, you can go ahead and lose to progress but winning will give extra dialogue choices. One mission specifically is a gwent tournament and winning will give a different ending for it.
