My wife has an old as shit iPod Touch that's cracked and shitty. So I bought her a newer model (gen 6, I believe).

Both are plugged into her laptop, iTunes detects both of them. She has 975 songs saved to the old iPod, hardly any saved to iTunes itself. If I right click on a song and then Add To Device, I can select the new iPod but nothing happens.

Why the fuck can't I just open a folder in one and drag it to a folder in the other like I did for my phone (went Android to Android, easy as fuck)

Is it purchased music or did she download them from the internet? If it's purchased music, she should be able to select "Transfer purchases" once the iPod is synced to the iTunes library.

It's File > Device > Transfer Purchases on the iTunes site.

Then, you should be able to sync the new iPod with the iTunes library.

Pretty sure it's a mix of purchases and downloads.

Transfer all the songs to your computer first

It creates a bunch of mp3 files named in gibberish, but the files still have album names and titles in their data. So you can just then transfer them to the new eye pod

But how

When I try to check the iPod's storage the only shit I can find is pictures. No music anywhere

You have to make it where you can see hidden folders and files, go to ipod control, and your songs should be in the music folder.

I actually tried this but apparently Apple removed the ability to do this because the iPod control folder isn't there.

I had to do this like a decade ago (before I started keeping well-organized backups of all my music on my PC). My memory is of reading that the ability to transfer music off an IPod is restricted in order to prevent music-sharing. Therefore, I had to use third party software.

Don't remember what I used, but here's a Google search result for "program to transfer ipod music": https://tunesgo.wondershare.com/ipod-transfer/ipod-to-pc-transfer-free.html

Damn that sucks

I have an old ipod so I can do it easily with mine

You sure you can't see any mp3 files in there?

All that's there is "internal storage" and I can see pictures but nothing else.

She's just gonna redownload shit. Has a lot of songs still saved to her old laptop so probably using that.
