I thought they were gonna make another game? Was the last one so bad they are hoping people forget?

I think they are making a new one idk, but they have been releasing MCC piecemeal on Steam and that looks fun. I never got into Halo when it was fresh and new but many years later I want to give it another go.

Halo 5 was not good. Bad story, boring campaign, and no local co-op were deal breakers.

5 was so poorly received that Infinite (6 but dropping numbers now) is a "spiritual reboot" of the series. Back to the old visual style and possibly more classic gameplay, though none has been revealed yet.

They're taking extra time developing it because it has a brand new engine and they had to go back to the drawing board regarding the storyline.

Infinite is bringing back split screen though so that automatically makes it better

Halo 5 was the only multiplayer I never played, but I heard that was good at least. The campaign though was by far the worst in the series, I have no idea what they were thinking. There was so much potential in that story too, Locke and his team had great setup to hunt down Chief, Arbiter was coming back, giant Forerunner artifacts showing up and destroying planets... and it was all trash.

Halo Infinite should be out this holiday season, looks like it will be a spiritual reboot of the first game (although still a sequel to 5). Focus only on Chief, most the game takes place on a single Halo ring (it is Zeta Halo though, the biggest most mysterious of the rings in the lore), humanity has been getting thrashed in a war, and you are once again the last hope.
