My collection has a lot of cull. Stuff I don't really need. I figure I have accumulated so much of it, I can take it to the bank, cash it in, and help pay off my student loans.

So, the stats right now are 1,109 notes with a face value of $3,104.

I'm keeping some of it.
-every star note
-every older bill/series that is hard to come by
-every fancy serial number
-anything odd looking

Beyond that, I'm going to save one of every series even if there is nothing interesting in them. Then the collecting and hoarding process will begin again.

I figure I can cut my collection in half, which is not so bad. It'll hurt to see them go(not really), but this is the purpose of a currency hoard. You save it until you find a more useful purpose for it.

Or you could just use them as toilet paper! :D

toilet paper

That sounds like something the Germans would have done with their currency during the Great Depression.

Banks pay out for currency that has a value higher than face value?

No. But everything i am giving up doesn't really have collector value. If it did id keep it.

Like i save every one dollar series 2003a and before. At the very least every series 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2003a can go. That's a couple hundred right there.

I don't know. I think it would be worth trying to sell it to a collector if it has a little higher than face. Just sell it for a lower price than usual which is what I do with Steam cards. My niece has a nickel that's worth $1.10 or something like that. 2005 buffalo nickel.

Nobody wants circulated examples of those series since they aren't rare at all, even in bulk. Collectors and coin shops have untouched straps hoarded of perfect or near perfect condition bills that there isn't even that high of a demand.

Even silver certificates from the 1950s have little collector value in circulated condition.

I was just hoarding to hoard. And save money. No real collector reason

Those nickels aren't that rare. But it was a one year deal so harder to find than some things but i see em routinely. The numismatic value may be a dollar, but who is gonna pay a dollar for it is a good question
