I have a ridiculous number of DVDs and Blurays. Now most newer things do come with a digital code and that is definitely awesome, but for those things that don't or older stuff that I've had a while or whatever... it's just a lot easier to run a media server and stream stuff to any TV in my house and be able to start and stop whenever, etc, instead of finding a DVD and potentially having to finish it in another room later, etc.

I'd say 90%+ of newer stuff is all comfortably on Vudu. But yeah it isn't everything new/older stuff. Best I can tell I could legally rip my own media and put it on a server but owning the physical media but then acquiring the digital copy through other means would still be illegal. --- ... Morally yes, unless you were just careless with your DVD and got it all scratched up then you're a bad customer and deserve to have to purchase/license it again.
