What happened to the Baudelaires, what is the fate of Klaus, Sunny and Violet by the end of the series?

Where was Jacqueline, the secretary of Mr Poe who sometimes helped the kids? It seems she completely disappeared and I can't remember her having been killed off or anything like that.

I thought she got eaten by the carnival tigers. Was that someone else?

Jacqueline's actress couldn't make the show after a certain point, so it was handwaved away as her inheriting a duchess title.

In the books pretty much everyone was given an ambiguous ending. The Baudelaires were strongly hinted to have survived in the Beatrice letters though. Not sure about the tv series but I heard its a bit more conclusive and happier.
I thought it was the opposite. I thought the letters hinted that the boat they were on sunk. Honestly, a depressing ending like that sounds like the series to me.

Damn shame, I liked her.

I think it was another boat because the plot of that book was that theyd gone missing again and Beatrice was looking for them. Obviously Beatrice survived because shes the focus of the book. I recall Sunny had her own cooking show (despite being a kid) too.
Interesting, it has been so long. I always remember becoming obsessive and people online made it sound more ambiguous about their survival due to that line. The boat was hinted to have sank, but I guess it must have sunk near shore.

The wiki states that Violet had to perform emergency repairs which managed to get it to shore. She and Sunny definitely survived. Sunny is said to have had a cooking show on the radio while Violet was stated to have returned to Briny Beach more times than she does in the series. Klaus is the only one that possibly could have died, but there's also a small reference in the second book about him thinking of a moment for "years to come."

Beyond that, their fate is ambiguous. Lemony Snicket never found them.

That book taught me that some books are just bad

i hated how many plot elements were dropped like that big question mark in the underwater radar and the sugar bowl, so stupid

The show did eventually answer what was in the sugar bowl. I think the answer works for the books too.

I mean, the answers they give are kinda weaksalt but I can't hold it against the show because it does warn me every episode against watching this show.

I even want to complain about stuff like how they gave the villain henchmen a happy ending even though they really didn't deserve it but again the narrator warns that this is not one of those happy tales, so I just have to take it.

Excellent book series, imo. It's been a favorite all of my life, even up until this day.

Yeah, it was my favorite. Again, I was obsessed with it as a kid. As I said, though, people made what happened after The End sound more ambiguous than I guess it was. No book series has done that for me.

That was my reaction at first too, but it makes more sense when you think about it. The cure for the mycelium is extremely dangerous because it means one side of the schism could then freely use the mycelium as a weapon.

thank goodness the show actually explained both of them because the book ending pissed 7th grade me off so much with those two lol
and some of the henchmen did have happy endings in the book too.

Im sure Klaus is fine too. In book two it says that years later he lied awake wondering why he didnt just push Olaf back in the taxi

The show baited me so hard at times too. Making it seem like Monty was on top of Olafs schemes was one example

overall I really loved it

For real. The fact that the henchmen got happy endings while some of the nicest people got horrible endings (the librarian's being by far the worse, and with an audience to boot) really pissed me off.

But again, I was warned repeatedly about it, and I didnt listen. <_<

Or they could have mass produced it and rendered the very effect of the mycelium moot in the first place... or not have it be in a sugar bowl that belonged to a superficial woman who only cared about the container, not the contents... really there's any number of problems with it
