Dracula Untold and The Mummy were part of the "dark universe" but as already said, when The Mummy bombed the films have now gone back to being standalone. The Invisible Man and Dark Army are their own things.

Honestly, the EU principle makes sense when it comes to Universal monsters because they've *always* had cross-overs. It's not just a matter of tapping into a fad.

That said, the struggle they've been having to really get it off the ground means that there probably won't be a lot of connection between the individual films even if they do start doing cross-overs as well.
