GTA5 impressed me in 2015 so I'm putting my faith in it. The thing is it's still a GTA game so I'm absolutely terrified that it's going to choke. >_>

I'm not sure! I have P4G there but honestly I assumed I was taking it in an upset and relying on our deathbed votals to see it through.

I've got 3H > P4G in my bracket but I am super nervous about the whole thing. 3H > Xenoblade is the only result I feel good about.

My brain said Three Houses > GTAV. About the equivalent of RE2 plus Nintendo trending upward seems stronger than a game most people play for modded modes.

... that said my bracket has Three Houses > P4G. I have little faith in P4G, I think P4 has a very distinct ceiling that will crumble against anything better than low midcard that'll take casual votes away from it, but it has a chance and I would feel terrible if I didn't support it in-bracket and it won.

I mean, the main reason is because Persona 4 is arguably the strongest game in its division on paper (35% on Twilight Princess is nothing to trifle with), and Persona 4 Golden will hopefully retain the base game's strength - perhaps with help from a Persona boost, as you said.

I like to think Persona 4 and 5 have a lot of overlap. One managed to get the series noticed while the other made it more mainstream.

I could see any of P4, GTAV and Three Houses winning that division. Three Houses will definitely be there, unless my read on Xenoblade is way off, so it's a "safer" pick.

Persona 5 is only popular because of 4. I would take a full strength 4 over probably all but 10 games in this bracket? maybe 15, I dont know, but its not really any different than 5.

Well, Persona 5 might get some residual popularity from Joker being in Smash now, but I don't know that it's worth a lot. But generally I tend to agree with you. I just don't know if we're getting the full strength of 4!

Ive flip flopped this division so many times. I can see a scenario where RDR > P4 and P5 > RDR2.

Currently have 3H > GTA, feels the safest.

If RDR beats P4G. It beats GTA as well

GTAV is going to shock people. AS in it's going to be the Turd of the contest in terms of Seeding and Result.

It got 48% on TTYD in 2015. Thats not to be sniffed at. Symphonia got progressively more popular in the past 10 years. Probably due to the HD re releases.

and I did say 2.0. Xenoblade is still exclusive to Nintendo platforms. People love this game

The more i think about it the more i'm going to go with Xeno>Persona 4 for my bracket

It's actually not. The fact that Symphonia almost always came up short against big name opponents indicates that JRPGs that aren't completely mainstream have a hard time breaking through against popular stuff. Heck, Xenoblade couldn't even beat Donkey Kong Country 2! I've never doubted Symphonia has strength. I was one of the biggest proponents of its strength, in fact! But when push comes to shove, it usually came up short and Xenoblade might, too.

RDR beats GTAV as well. Comfortably actually

P4G isn't the same as OoT 3D. IT came out only a few years after and was definitive version. P4G could be stronger than the original.

Its an upset pick. But in the event GTA wins. It should get beaten by RDR or P4G with ease. And should it somehow cheat its way into the finals of that division then either FE or Xenoblade take it out.

it's not a high bar to clear

But people do make a distinction between versions of the game. Ideally, P4G should be stronger than the original, but then you have people who think it doesn't belong in a contest like this since it's a port of a 2008 game.

Would I want P4G in this contest ahead of a newgame like Skyward Sword? Absolutely. Because SS sucked and i love P4G. But There has to be a line somewhere

You were talking about added content in P4G...they added some content in P5 for Royal. Would Royal be a 2020-2029 Decade game?

I'm just saying unless its an entirely new game or completely reimagined like a RE2...it hard to justify it for current decade game

Persona 4 Golden will be strong. Because its the definitive version of P4. Regardless of what system its on.

Red Dead Redemption (2015g) has a strength of 24.60 against Base Link.

I'm willing to give P4 a bit of a P5/Joker in Smash boost, but offset it (and then some) by assuming enough GameFAQs voters will treat it as a different game. If that word "Golden" was dropped from the title, I might take it to win the whole division.

Somehow I thought of GTAV > RDR instantly due to 2015 results (44% on Mario RPG vs. 41% on SOTC), but yeah that might be such a great idea.

I feel like Xenoblade might have gained in popularity over the past few years. More people seem to be aware of it due to it being a Smash fixture now. But still a good argument for Fire Emblem to win the division. I don't really follow Fire Emblem so all I know is Awakening put the series on the map as a big franchise for Nintendo but was contested among long-time fans.

Red Dead Redemption is my pick to win the division and I think some of you are sleeping on that or taking too much stock into the registered vote. All four of those games are opponents RDR could beat, especially Xenoblade and GTA5.

Those are adjustments, so there's going to be some margin for error, but you can look at it this way: Persona 4 was worth 35%+ on Twilight Princess, and RDR was worth about 35%+ on MGS3. Which seems like the better result?
