Iron Man and Vision are captured by the Mandarin...



...and are later rescued (albeit off-screen) by Wasp.



While I'm sure that comics in 1991 featured female members of hero groups as equal teammates, video games were still largely in "rescue the princess" mode. Although I would've liked for Iron Man to have been a playable character, it's kinda nice to see a retro game where a woman rescues a dude in distress.

I am still going to refer to him as Princess Iron Man though. <_<

I'm a little vague on the details, but he was drained of color after coming back from the dead. It wasn't a continuity error or graphical limitation. He was white in the comics at the time the game came out.

But hes a robot...

lol comics are so weird. But thanks. I dont know Avengers lore outside of the name being invented by Wasp because she thought it sounded cool. >_>

The thing I'm curious about is why Hawkeye was chosen as the second playable character over Iron Man. My guess is because he kinda looks like Batman.



One could argue that Iron Man's ability to fly would be game-breaking, but they could've just ignored it or explained in the instruction manual that his propulsion jets were damaged in battle and he has no time to repair them. For the most part, the NES adaptations of Hook and Superman ignored character flight in favor of side-scrolling, jumping action.

I think games were just weird back then. I used to think Nick Fury was a Punisher side kick.

I fucking hated this game as a kid because I was baited into thinking this was a port of the arcade game and the fact Vision and Iron Man were regulated to be unplayable and being forced to rescue instead

The arcade game, Captain America and the avengers did receive a port.

yeah, I know, the SNES and Genesis got a port but as a fucking kid and the internet not really being a thing, I wouldn't know the NES game was different thing from the arcade game
