I don't understand this. If you're getting charged $50K for graduating early, why not pick up a minor or second (mostly overlapping major), take that last year of classes, and graduate with more skills and no charge?

The $50K isn't because I'm graduaring early, it's in spite of me graduating early.

So if you're paying that same amount no matter what.... then you can still take the extra year of classes. You're just throwing money away in that case, unless you have some specific pressing reason why you need to be done school as quickly as possible.

Is there a reason why you don't just take the extra year if you're paying for it and walk away with a minor, or a second major?

Another year would be an extra $30K+.

Okay... I'm totally lost.

So you're graduating a year early, and they're charging you $50K extra for some reason beyond what you've already paid for credits, but you can't also stay the remaining time that you presumably paid for because they'll charge you another $30K on TOP of the $50K? So then where is the $50K coming from?

What's the missing detail here?

They aren't charging me $50K extra, $50K is just what I'll accrue for going to college for 3 years.

For the crime of getting a physics degree a whole year earlier than intended.

You implied you were getting charged extra for graduating early, as if somehow you wouldn't be paying that for graduating on time.

But in reality, you're just saying you tuition cost $50K

I had 20k in debt after graduating. I had amazing scholarships; just needed the money to pay for rent and food. It wouldn't have made sense to go to a community college and throw away the scholarships/financial aid I did have.

Hope you can pay off your debt without too much trouble, TC.

Not at all. He made his post in response to obviously my and others' posts that we misinterpreted OP. I'm challenging that it's not us, it's OP. Hence the inquiries for his post of him saying he's 50K in debt for the crime of finishing early. He should have said he's 50K in debt for going to school for his degree or his degree cost him $50K.
