Ugh. CNN had a group of voters, mostly black, and they were asked who they thought owned the debate. 5 said Biden, 2 said Bloomberg, 2 said Buttigieg, and 2 said Warren. None said Sanders. One even said, I think Sanders attacking Bloomberg was in bad taste. It just got worse throughout the night.

And, like I pointed out in my other topic, they seemed so scripted. Lord help us.

I mean, they do use that method in debates lol, it's still a debate if only one person can talk at a time. I mean....honestly it's not NEEDED at a debate, but it obviously is at these debates (in fact quite often talking out of turn is not put up with at all, and while you might get a warning or two, doing it over and over is not just shrugged off.

So yeah, they could, and should totally do it at this point and I mean, some of the guys like Biden was even comenting on how this wasn't like most debates, can they just speak up whenever they want to etc?

The whole thing sucked, but that was just plain out rediculous (and yeah I know it's fairly normally for political debates but usually not to this extent.

I mean, at no point in my life, even when I had alot of money saved towards raising kids some day, would I have spent $2000 to go to a debate. I was never rich enough to even go to a $2000 concert or play, let alone a debate. I'm pretty sure that locks out just about anyone who makes less then $100k a year at this point.

Crazy for the Democratic debate to be like that....republicans I get, but I think they did it to try and fill the crowd with people who wouldn't boo Bloomburg after the last one (maybe he paid them off to do it....shrug).

Whatever, explains the booing of Bernie etc. It was a harsh crowd, but....it's also just plain ugly up there, I don't think any of them even slightly like each other, and it's hard to watch.

Steyer is actually polling at 15% (the viability threshold) in SC. Hes spent more time there than any candidate. My guess is Biden recognizes that Steyer has captured some of his supporters, and thats why he was attacking him. Biden needs as decisive a win as possible to keep his campaign alive. African Americans are the only group he leads with, and 60% of the dem electorate in SC is AA.

I get why candidates make decisions like that but I think it usually is a mistake to chase demographic data like that

Black people want the same thing that other voters want. Biden might be polling well and have name recognition but I dont think hes actually talking about real solutions that are going to improve lives

I dont particularly like any of the candidates besides Sanders. Warren used to be my first choice before her campaign imploded.

That being said, I try to follow all leads on the race, especially polling. Steyer is polling 15%, which is the viability threshold. Even if Biden doesnt make a huge dent in those numbers, maybe he can push him under 15 and the delegates he wouldve gotten would be split between those who did well enough (which would included Sanders of course, but Biden needs whatever he can get at this point).

Among other reasons, if you live in a state with closed primaries, then you can't vote in them if you're an independent. A lot of Democrats/Republicans would be independents if it meant that they could still vote in their state primaries/caucuses.

Edit: Also yeah they really stacked the audience. Not only were the seats thousands of dollars, but the tickets were circulated among DNC insiders thanks in large part to Tom Perez.

If Biden loses to Sanders in SC, I think it'll be because Steyer did better than expected and took votes from Biden; not b/c Sanders outperforms.
