It's a diplomacy tournament ongoing for many decades. Some of the greatest players ever in the hobby will be there. It's cheap (travel excluded, obv.). They play other board games, too.

I'm not going there "to compete", though I will be participating. I've literally only played the game twice. So I fully expect to just get annihilated but meet some really cool people while I'm at it!

The con is connected somehow so they rent out dorm rooms for super cheap

Technically I haven't booked it yet. I could get a hotel if I wanted, not sure why though. The dorm is $35/night

I'd have to find out my schedule and see if the girl would allow. She might be willing to go down the weekend to stay in greensboro with my aunt. So, I'll get back to ya. If I go it's just to have some fun while getting blasted every night. Like, that's the main point right?

I have a criminal record, for drug charges no less which makes it even worse. I am eligible for a suspension of record, but that doesnt guarantee that I can get in to the US.

Yeah, Canada is like fuck that with a dui on my record. I'd have to get an approval from the ambassador or some shit or have like 10 years removed from it.
