Do you think America's healthcare system is in shambles?

37 y/o Richard Castaldo was 17 when he was shot EIGHT TIMES during the 1999 Columbine Massacre and has been WHEELCHAIR BOUND and is now HOMELESS who is forced to stay at an LA nursing facility and a good samaritan who met Richard recently has appealed for help and said "Society has failed him"

He was shot outside his high school in Littleton, Colorado on April 20,1999 when more than 20 were wounded and 13 killed which was one of the darkest days in American History that led to the harsh reality of American School Massacres that happened thereafter

Hollye Dexter, a gun control activist met him at a Survivors of Gun Violence event last year and said she noticed he was ill.

She said "We called 911. We had him taken to the hospital. He was very sick with a MRSA infection which is life threatening"

After spending a few weeks in intensive care, he was movedto a nursing home where he has been for 5 months and nowhere to go.

He moved to LA to work in sound engineering but lost his home during the 2012 housing crisis and moved to apt but was evicted after failing to pay the rent and also has huge medical bills

Dexter said "They can't release him because he's homeless. because richard was evicted last year, he can't pay his rent. I asked what the intake paperwork said, and it just said homeless man. And i juts get so choked up thinking about it. I just see that picture of him as a 17 y/o with braces and i just think, how did we fail him? Here he is, 20 years later, and we failed him as a society. And it breaks my heart"...

She is trying to raise funds for him to find somewhere to live so he can be released but worries that donations could interfere with his disability benefits so instead is asking advice via email

Castillo was with his friend, Rachel Scott outside sitting eating lunch when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire on him killing Rachel as Castaldo survived with 8 seperate bullets, one of which lodged in his spine, paralyzing him from the chest down

The family of the victims sued the parents of the shooters and the gun manufacturers and after a bitter legal dispute, all of the victims only received 2.85 million which was shared among 30 families.
