I liked parts of it, but it was ultimately unsatisfying.

Off the top of my head:

• Bonnie not appreciating Woody.
• Why was Buzz Lightyear essentially useless? Bo Peep was cool, but her newfound abilities completely replaced the need for Buzz.
• OG toys not getting much screen time.
• Hos before bros

Nah I liked it. I found the ending pretty moving as someone who moved interstate and left my friends and family for love.

Hard same. The ending legitimately made me depressed. The ending to 3 was perfect as is.

The cynic in me says:

The reason they did Toy Story 4 was because they want to do more with the franchise, but they feel they can't move forward without Woody unless they give him a proper send off. But also, more importantly, it gives them the ability to move forward without Tom Hanks and the fat paycheck he probably commands from them.

And for any of the sjw types that are currently infesting Disney and Pixar, this lets them have their "gtfo old white guys" moment and hides it behind a veil of kindness by allowing Woody (the old white hero) be left behind in the sunset. A pretty lie that conveniently sets them up for the cash cow they will attempt to milk dry.

.....damn, I know that's cynical as fuck, but...yeah.

I thought it wrapped it up nicely, it's nice that Woody got his own happy ending and doesn't have to be a slave to his kid who clearly doesn't care about him.

i didnt think 4 was necessary with the whole lost toy concept but forky was great

should have ended with 3

I didn't necessarily think it was a bad movie, but I didn't enjoy it as much as Toy Story 2 or 3.

this is another one of those sequels that nobody asked for.

I'll watch it eventually, but TS3 already convinced me that they have nothing new to add to this franchise (and the TS4 trailers helped in that regard) so my expectations are low to the point that it would be impossible to be disappointed.

I thought it was okay. But yes this didnt need a sequel.

Bonnie not liking Woody felt realistic. He was Andys favourite toy, didnt mean he would be Bonnies.

The create a toy angle was eh. Though I thought Forky was funny.

It seems depressing in the end. But hey, at least the toys can survive in the wild after there kid abandons them.

ill be surprised if they do 5 & 6.

I think the idea was that all of the side cast is either dying (Varney, Rickles) or aging out, and right wing Tim Allen might not always be bankable, but Tom Hanks is down with doing more, so they split Woody off and gave him a setup to do his own thing in sequels. And it just didn't work.

I thought it was pretty solid as far as sequels go that nobody wanted when it was announced. Seemed like it got a lot of good critical and audience buzz (it did make $1 billion which I found kinda crazy). That was funny to see because everyone said they didn't want it after how 3 ended (and even still now with posts in this thread).

I'm kind of glad Pixar has said they're going to focus on original movies now that they've had a decade of mostly good not great sequels.
