First, I keep being super impressed with the opening video over the classic dragon quest fanfare. Such a beautiful work of art right there.

Second, I don't actually start a file because I keep looking at the draconian quest option and keep being indecisive on how I want to proceed.

Anyone want to give me a little advice?

Choose to turn everything on, and then later if you decide it's too much you can turn it off at any time.

However, you can't do it the other way around. So if you decide it's too easy, you can't later turn on things to make it harder. So it's always best to start hard and ease it up if you find it too hard.

Stronger monsters is good. The others aren't really fun imo

As Grand Kirby mentioned, you can turn any Draconian Quest option off but not on mid-quest, so I'd personally recommend figuring out which ones you might be interested in trying out (if that's all of them, great) and turning all of those on.

I'm going thru the game on ps4 right now. It depends what your looking for, I want to beat the game, and do all the side stuff and eventually after beating the game chase the platinum trophy. I've always been a stickler for default difficulty. If you dont power level (staying in one spot fighting the endlessly regenerating monsters) you will be at a decent level and have some minor difficulty with bosses and the game for the first 20ish hrs.

But like all rpgs when you grind it gets easy. Also there are 3 party members which can get insanely strong fast and once they do they are death gods.

Unlike other DQ games ive played this is very focused on story and the characters in your party. It actually is written more like a Tales of game in that approach.

Eh, didn't go with much on, only the townsfolk talk tripe.

Seems silly/harmless. So I'm basically doing a vanilla playthrough then. Well, it is of the demo, so... maybe I'll restart with them all if I decide to get the full game.

Autoplay and skip both as options on cutscenes is fantastic.
I think the dog looks dopey but Gemma's nice.
Not that much to the tor, nothing super exciting storyways just yet. RPGs just start simple.

the game is very easy on the default so I would recommend the harder enemies

The demo is like 10-12 hours so hopefully you like the settings you picked!

I played vanilla and had a good time, some bosses were challenging and I pretty much didn't do any grinding.

Yeah... I decided I didn't want to mess with the difficulty on my first playthrough, and in the end I was really disappointed by how easy it was. And I had played too long to want to restart and change anything. (You say you might change it after completing the demo, but remember that you can carry over your demo save to main game).

I'm saying there might be regrets either way, but only one choice lets you change your mind later.
