I also dont think the joke is about women saying theyre 59 usually means that theyre taller than men who claim so. I think the joke was moreso on 59 = tall af for a woman, and 59 = midget for a man.

Yeah that's my wakeaway from it too, and I worked at a bar/restaurant in my early 20's for about 6 years.

The problem isn't with a person's height itself, it's that they let how tall they are affect how big they are. Shorter/smaller guys tend to act smaller than taller/larger guys. They let their height or lack thereof become part of their personality.

It's a really odd thing to watch and read about. On the flip side you also often get short dudes who try to overcompensate for their shortness, having larger cars/trucks, or trying to make themselves the center of attention just so that people WILL pay attention to them. All those things do though is make them more obnoxious, as even if they try to overdo it acting loud and boisterous they can never be the strongest presence in the room doing that. They don't have the force of personality to, and while they think they're getting it, they're just forcing out their personality, which is different and not effective.

I'm only 5'4" but whenever I walk in to work, or a grocery store, or to a friend's house I'm always greeted by everyone around and talked to, others pausing what they were already doing to do so. I have a very strong personality and presence. Nothing to do with how tall I am at all. I could be taller and do the same thing. The other dudes I work with (who are literally ALL taller than me) don't get that kind of reaction, except for one, and he's an ex-con.

Now that I'm thinking about it, it might have been my background in the military that gave me, or at least helped me to present, that kind of strong personality.

Meh, it's weird how accepted it is to make fun of short men. And it isn't one of those "oh it's all in good fun" things because that shit is a real thing.

Side note, totally expected a Royce da 5'9" video because 5'9" isn't all that short.

I'm pretty sure that is the joke, don't know where people are getting the "they lie about being 5'9" from.

When it comes to lying about height with men, the joke is only about 5'11 men saying they are 6 feet. 5'9 has never been the standard lie height.
