Like, you used to be friendly with this person, but now they lowkey begin to exclude you from everything because they got jealous of your relationship with another one of their friends. You ask them what's wrong, and they say everything is fine. You give them ample opportunity to say their piece, but they continue to deny, despite it being obvious that they suddenly just don't like you so much anymore. They actively don't invite you anymore and they no longer contact you. You have to be the one to contact them. They don't totally ghost and block you on everything, but it's clear that they don't really want you around anymore. It's likely that the only reason they haven't totally ghosted you is because of the fact that you'd still have contact with the middle friend, and it would be too awkward for them to totally ghost you because of said contact with middle friend.

Basically, this is tearing me up inside.

I just want it to go back to the way it was. It's so damn irritating and uncomfortable.

Like, I didn't even do anything wrong. Me and mutual friend played damn video games together and I think he assumed that I was stealing mutual friend from him or something? I never, like, excluded him or said that he couldn't join us.

I was this way with my extended family. I excluded myself from events and get-togethers because I was jealous of my cousins having more success with their lives, and thus my attitude spread to my aunts, uncles and grandparents by extension. 3 years went by and my dad is dying from cancer, so my family started coming to our place more often. I couldn't live with the guilt and pettiness eating up inside me, and I didn't want my dad to have his last moments or memories of me to be bad ones. So I made up with my family and told them all of my feelings and thoughts. They understood everything and applauded me coming forward in person with a lot of confidence and bravery. It's such a relief to have all that mental weight taken off your shoulders.

Best thing I can recommend to someone on the opposite side of the problem, is to not force communication or contact. Give them the space and peace of mind they need while not only listening but understanding. They will come to you when they are ready to open up.

I would just reciprocate the behavior, it's a good strategy. Seems like he does a good job ignoring you, is there a reason you can't do the same to him? Like you don't have to be openly rude, as he is not being openly rude, but idk seems really easy to just stop trying to talk to the guy

You're right. But... It's in my nature to want to "fix" things. How do I overcome that part of myself?
