I was just thinking about how I'm not really allergic to any foods. I just got satay chicken from a Chinese place for lunch and forgot to ask if anyone in the office was allergic to peanuts - which led to allergies. I have some sensitivity to cats, though I'll gladly brave some itching for a chance to pet a cat, and my parents have food allergies (my mum basically spins a roulette wheel every time she eats prawns, 99% of the time is fine but there have been three prawns that have made her face swell up and restrict her breathing, and my dad is deadly allergic to the fuzz on the outside of a kiwi fruit). But for the most part, I don't have food allergies.

But every now and again I'll grab myself a grapefruit - it's very bitter, but it's delicious and juicy and it feels cleansing. The only caveat is that my mouth starts to tingle and it feels like my lips swell up. Not by a lot, if I was in serious pain or having trouble breathing I would be a lot more worried. But it's just a bit of a swollen feeling and some tingling.

One reason I haven't put 2 and 2 together is because grapefruit is a citrus fruit. I love oranges, but if I eat one that's too acidic or if my mouth is dry when I eat one or two of them, the corners of my mouth burn with citric acid. No issue with lemon or lime, I'll eat that shit in wedges if I can, but there's a similar burning sensation if I get too much acid on a cracked lip or at the corner of my mouth. Grapefruit has some chemical shit that messes with medications, and I feel like they're just bursting with citric acid compared to the rest, so I figured that this tingling and swelling feeling stems from an abundance of that or something. But now I'm not sure.

When you eat a grapefruit, do you get a tingly feeling in your lips, and/or a slight swelling sensation? Or is it just me?

Either that or it's interacting with a medication you're taking. That happens sometines with grapefruit.
