New Family Guy seems to focus way more on the "plot" of the episode than the jokes. Old Family Guy was more about the jokes, with a plot that was also basically a joke. This was a nod to a real life drama that did this, but not explicitly. The point being to help you further exlpore springfield and the community. Now they make a show like this. I've seen that said a lot, but I don't recall ever seeing the actual interview he said it in. Its still good, its just a step down from its heyday and so people think its much worse than it actually is. It's always been "consistently decent and worth watching, but if you don't want to nbd you aren't really missing much".
