I feel like you did some damage. Many people in this topic seem to agree with your error. Admitting fault is a step in the right direction, but you could do more to make it right.

Lol. You really couldn't tell how backhanded that was. It comes off as "You guys are feeling bad for a rapist right now, just remember that". You gotta be able to recognize when the 2nd half of what someone says completely disrupts the ability for the first half to come off genuine.

Is this your attempt to be a provocateur? Because this is more provocative than her tweet. People have been calling Kobe a rapist since he allegedly raped someone - she was not presenting new information to the public. Its already part of the conversation regarding Kobe. Shes acknowledging what many people already feel about Kobe. Her primary audience is people who are concerned with sexism and power structures, and this is a tweet that to them is reassuring that its ok to mourn and few complicated feelings over a man who many consider to be a rapist because hes more than that. To someone who is not part of her primary audience or to someone who is only part of her audience because they wish to be enraged at her, they read this tweet as waaaaa she called Kobe a rapist. To a person who has been raped but also witnessed Kobes dedication to his craft and to his family, one who may admire many parts of him while despising what they believe he did. I dont think thats a provocative thought at all. Its ok to have complicated feelings towards complicated people.

These tiny bits of information that can be taken out of context if you don't keep up with the person's whole life isn't for me. It's like it's made for people to misconstrue and look dumb after >_>. I've been seriously sexually assaulted, if a man had done it it would be rape. I've known multiple female victims of rape. Imagine how it feels when they see someone they, based on evidence of which there is plenty, consider a rapist being celebrated and near deified. It's an unpleasant feeling.

I find it amazing that some people are seeing so much red that they somehow took the tweet to mean he deserves to die.

Ironically the biggest issue with Sarkeesian was that she often missed the context. I guess that's a big thing on the internet in general these days.
