If she's not usually a sports reporter and she called them the Knicks for whatever reason then it would probably be in her head like "Don't say Knicks Don't say Knicks" then she almost said it and the fusion dance happened and we got that. If you slow it down you can hear the K's.

Believe it or not, white people will generally avoid saying any word that even sounds like the n-word, and Im sure that goes double for people in the public spotlight. People also tend to panic when they think theyve made a big mistake, even if it was also an innocent one.

Now I will respond to your point. If she, as she said, accidentally combined the names of the two teams (and given that she called them the Knicks before this clip, that is within the realm of possibilities) then this verbal slip was not weird at all and similar (albeit, less inflammatory) ones probably happen on these 24-hour news networks daily.

Also, I feel like people arent noticing that the MSNBC and Fox News studios are both located in New York, so she probably has a reason to strongly associate the Knicks with basketball.

yeah I listened on headphones and it sounded more like a K. And you could hear she hesitated and stuttered, so either way if she did say the N-word it was by accident and she shouldn't get fired for that.

Pointing out faulty logic isnt defending. Like right now, there are people in this topic saying that they hear her say Nakers or Knickers or something other than the N-word, so your second sentence is faulty.

How a combination of two words would sound depends on where you stop one and start the other, so thats a pointless distinction too.

Accident, poor woman, hopefully she doesn't lose her job over this, it seems like an honest mistake, Kobe dying is a horrible thing and saying the n word while people are mourning dudes death is way too cold for anyone to do on purpose with intentions to hurt. Yeah it was an obvious mistake. Nobody in their right mind would say that on live tv and risk getting fired over it...but why did that word come out at all? Was it on her mind for some reason? Just kind of weird to me.

And yeah saying "n******" when reporting on the death of one of the most iconic basketball players in the world is probably going to cost you lol

I kinda thought this was a troll edit since theres a pause before she says it, like someone butchered previous words of hers into this sound clip.
