If you are buying something like that, you should mark it as a gift.
From their website
Purchased gift items won't determine the recommendations we give you,

Now if you are just worried about people going through your order history, that will also help because then you clearly didn't buy it for yourself.

You can archive the order on the order list to "hide" it.
If you want it to stop being used for recommendations, click on "[Name]'s Amazon.com" in the header and find "Improve Your Recommendations". It'll give you a list of everything you've ordered, and there's a checkbox for "I prefer not to use this for recommendations".

This is why I just keep my Amazon account to myself. >_> I mean, some of those recommendations can be quite good. My secrets are only safe with me, Amazon employees, the people I order stuff from, my bank, and hackers. Besides, everybody is into something weird. Nobody can really be on that high horse.

I shared my Amazon account with my ex-girlfriend. Now I can no longer leave reviews because she joined a bunch of "Free for good review" groups on Facebook for a bunch of cheap Chinese stuff for free. When we broke up she reported my account.

I now have a lot of digital books and movies on it and it would suck to just make another account.

As for the topic...You can archive the orders. It won't remove them, but it moves them to a different section that may not be checked.

I vaguely remember they were trialling an option to delete your purchased orders. This was a couple of years ago and I deleted a bunch of stuff to test it out and it worked.

Dont know if the features still available. Never tried it again.

You think wrong. Its there for at least 7 years. I opened my Amazon account in January 2013 and the stuff I purchased then is still available to view.

You can't delete a purchased order. You can delete a view on an item, you can tell Amazon not to recommend you things based on an order, or you can archive the order if it is completed & past the return window.

Actually one exception to this. You can ask Amazon to delete your entire account.
