There isn't much primary action for me this year, but I have donated to a few state house candidates already and plan to donate to a few more between now and November.

Right now the democrats only have 24 out of 100 seats so my big hope is that they can pick up a few seats and not be a super minority any more, which will give them leverage to stop certain legislation requiring a 3/4 majority

Considering this isn't an election year, no.

It's all either expanding medicaid or poking at Roe v Wade, and I don't care for either.

Yes. My work is heavily influenced by state politics and the legislative session here in Florida just started so I'm very tuned in right now.

(It's also a nice break from the never ending waste of time that is the impeachment stuff.)

Not particularly. Only doubt in Illinois is if the Dems hang on to their supermajority in Springfield or if they increase their supermajority in Springfield. The state GOP is horribly tarnished by association with Trump in every battleground district and is arguably the most incompetent major state party in the union, too.

How does your career as a lobbyist of sorts interact with campaign donations? Like, are you restricted from giving above certain amounts or do they have to be anonymous or something?

wat

we have some elections in off years but I was under the impression that all states had at least some primary and general elections at the same time as the federal ones

Nope, some states have odd-year elections, like Virginia.

I can do whatever I want in my personal life lol. My job has a social media policy so I'm limited in what kind of endorsements or support I can give publicly, but I wouldn't do that anyway

A whole bunch of GOPers have retired from our State Senate now that they don't control it anymore. Might have a shot at getting some more Dems in against non-incumbents.

I live near Rochester, which is like most cities very blue. But it's carved into four state senate districts that are currently all held by Republicans. Two of those have announced they won't seek re-election.
