The only way it could have ambiguity is if they say "next Wednesday" on, like, Sunday the 19th and you weren't sure if they meant the 22nd or 29th. Id only say this Wednesday if it was Sunday - Tuesday. Even on a Saturday (and possibly Friday), I might say this coming Wednesday. But next Wednesday works, as well... Which is probably why when people say this Wednesday on a Thursday or Friday, people correct you saying, You mean next Wednesday? Since you them, this Wednesday is already over. Because its the same week and all. And Wednesday just happened...
