From the perspective of a white guy, that is.

I've been moved out for 7 years, so there's nothing they could do about it... but I don't want there to be a scene or any awkwardness when they inevitably have to meet each other.

Also my dad is an alt right "I'm not racist, BUT" type of guy.

I'm mixed (half Filipino half white) and if my parents were to react that way in regards to me dating someone of a different race or ethnicity they'd be slapped hard with an ultimatum.

Kinda catch them before they can make a scene. "You guys are smart enough that you wouldn't give me shit for dating, like, a black chick, right?"

Non-aggressive bigots tend not to really have set standards, so much as things that they're just against in general. If you can play his insecurity of intelligence (which is very common in bigots) off his racism, you might win out.

This is an extreme generalization, though; I have dealt with the type, but I don't know your dad beyond the meager description.
