My 'R' key is on its last legs. This isn't a gimmick. Instead of CTRL + Ving the letter R every time, I am giving up on Rs, so forgive any words missing R.

TL;DR ISPs can block certain websites and rat out their customers, cops can confiscate and destroy your computer and lock you up for piracy, and you can get arrested for recording video in a movie theater just like in Japan.

And SBAllen said that in an interview, it might still be somewhere on Gamefaqs, I think near that one announcement thread where he said handbras were allowed, I'm sure someone knows where that link is in case they need it.

Disney would probably just shut everything down for copyright problems just like they did with Blip.

Speaking of Disney, Mickey Mouse is once again protected from being used in paid fan-works.

Article 20.62: Term of Protection for Copyright and Related Rights
Each Party shall provide that in cases in which the term of protection of a work,
performance, or phonogram is to be calculated:
(a) on the basis of the life of a natural person, the term shall be not less than the life of
the author and 70 years after the authors death; and
(b) on a basis other than the life of a natural person, the term shall be:
(i) not less than 75 years from the end of the calendar year of the first authorized
publication of the work, performance, or phonogram, or
(ii) failing such authorized publication within 25 years from the creation of the
work, performance, or phonogram, not less than 70 years from the end of
the calendar year of the creation of the work, performance, or phonogram.

The TC posted in another topic about the USMCA, and while the copyright length extension (?) blows, I don't think it is scary as it sounds overall. Everything I could read in the document and understand looked like stuff that the US already implements (at least on paper). As long as you aren't running a pirate site or uploading content to one, I think it's business as usual here.

There have been scary laws proposed in the past--like convicting users of a felony if they view more than three videos uploaded without rights holders' permission--but I just don't see any of that here. Granted I'm just a regular guy, but crucially, I haven't seen any major sites reporting on this as being an issue. I think these provisions are mainly meant to hit Canada and Mexico because piracy is a big deal there.
