A whole two years of not getting 4 picks. I'm still not all that impressed. I mean with how the MLB draft works, itll be a decent hit to their scouting department. Picks have a slot value (first 10 rounds iirc) and any signing bonus over $250k (again iirc) counts against that pool. The higher the pick, the more slot value it brings to add to your pool. Generally, high schoolers get higher bonuses since they have more leverage (can go to college for 2 years) and can have more upside while college seniors get picked to offset that, as theyll tend to sign for below slot values. Basically the Astros wont be able to really draft that much great talent in the next two years because they wont have the money pool to really sign the higher upside players. Their entire front office will likely get a facelift (the assistant GM was banned as well for being a dick) so itll actually have some effect.
