All 4 are strong movies. From #1 with younger, crazier Mel Gibson - to #2 (my favorite) where the bond between Riggs and Murtaugh is really a a peak - and then you have #3 which was PURE 1990's, but still a fun movie and the villain was great.
#4 had Jet Li and was a ride! --- Ohh boy ... Copied to Clipboard!

Loved 1 and never watched another for fear it would have gone downhill like Die Hard and Rambo nope they dont go down hill at all all 4 movies are amazing but there is a shift in tone like others have said 1 and 2 take themselves very seriously 3 and 4 are action comedy films and feel more light hearted overall even when tragedy happens it doesnt feel as serious because of the change in tone. mel gibson going crazy later in life does make it hard to get new people to watch it but its still a great movie franchise --- yusketeer ... I mean you can say what you want about #3, but Jack Travis burying one of his dude's in the cement while saying "Wait, wait, this is the best part - you can write your name in it!" is just priceless.

They steadily decline in quality as the franchise goes on but even 4 is not a bad movie by any means. The worst part is how absolutely grating Joe Pesci is in the last two.

The thing about the Lethal Weapons movies, the first two were about Martin Rigg's emotional recovery. The third going forward was him in a healthier state of mind.
